Calling all Tech Gurus! Alert Bubble Keeps on Flashing - It's Annoying
I thought I cured it today. Famous last words.
For the last two days, (that I've been actively working on trying to fix it,) there has been what I guess is an alert bubble. It's only there for a fraction of a second, so I can't read the content of the bubble. This happens every10 minutes or thereabouts.
I put up with it for a long while, then it just got annoying and distracting.
SO, first I tried a system restore. It reported back error # 0x08007005. So, I did a System Recovery, took off all the bloatware, that they put on (HP) and put the programs I had installed back on.
*ACAD 2010
*Office 2010
*FireFox 7.0.1
*Avira
I temporarily Installed *Malwarebytes to see if I had any malware. Report came back negative, so to speak.
The temporary install of Hitman Pro confirmed Malwarebytes findings
Avira, after running a full scan reported finding No viruses.
So, yesterday, I did a second System Recovery. I kept all the bloatware, except Norton, so Avira could run. Then uninstalled the programs I installed one by one and looked and waited to see the effect.
So far so good.
Then I reloaded the each program one by one to see the effect
So Far so good
I installed CCleaner this go around, because of my problems with System Restore.
I also installed Chrome. (I heard it was faster than FF, and I have to agree.)
Now, Chrome is Uninstalled Firefox is on, as I used that configuration, (ACAD and FF on the same machine) with no problems for months.
So, now, well actually 30 mins ago - the bubble flashed again, right over around where my clock is (lower left hand corner.) Now it flashes "on the 4's" every 10 minutes.
I also have ***all*** the windows updates. No new drivers that they recommend for my system, though. HP Update says all my drivers are up to date.
I apologize for the length of the post.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...
