Default Anyone have any exp with Hero 616 FP

Can anyone give me a personal review of the Hero 616 FP? I know they are cheap but are they good enough to make people want to see what FP's are about or are they so cheap and bad it will turn people off? My goal is to buy 10-20 and pass then out with a small bottle of ink to anyone who seems interested. With any luck I can do a bigger part in bringing people around to a better way of writing.

Personally with the 616 it's a crap shoot. My experience is about 50 % will not write and of the remaining about 50 % are excellent

My experience is a bit better...maybe 70%. I like them as beaters at work. The Bay has some insane deals on 10 packs.

Buy a ton, test them out, bin the duds, clean 'em, then hand them out. Great starter pens!

I've had good experiences with them, personally.

I bought three from a member. Two are nice and smooth, the other is a spare bladder.

I bought a 10 pack. They all work fine. I wrote many letters to folk on our snail mail exchange here using a few of these pens. Reviews say that the nibs tend to be finer than expected . . . I disagree. I would have liked the nibs to be finer.

I think its just the opposite. All of my pens are fine points, but they all lay down a very thick, wet line.

I stick with a drier ink when using 616s. Pelikan is just about perfect for them.

I'm sure it's my imagination but I'm 7 pens into a 10 pack and I swear the black pens are a nice medium nib and the colored ones seem finer..

Ok . . . perhaps . . . yes they spew out so much ink I found it difficult writing with them.

I bought a four pack of the jumbos some time ago. All four worked fine. The nibs where a little scratchier than an expensive pen, but for the money they were great value. I gave a couple away and kept a couple at work (where they were eventually stolen. Ah well, that was why they went to work and not the vintage Parkers.)

I bought a 10 pack in what I was told was the counterfeit packaging. They all work quite well but do have the inherent 616 quirks. I still use a 616 everyday though.

I have 6 out of a 10 pack running great (now) I would say go through them one at a time and make sure there are no issues then pass them along.

I peronsally bought at Jinhao 321, and I must say that it is excellent. I much prefer it to my Lamy Safari, much to my surprise! A handful of people think that they are better quality than the Hero pens, you can search around for reviews.

Draw some circles on you BBW and see if it smoothes them out at all. It doesn't take much.

I have had good experience with my 10 pack. I have been using them to practice pen care and maintenace and have had all of them apart and have messed with the nibs and feeders. I think they were a good place to starts and if I wreck one no big deal, but I have been able to solve every problem so far...I keep one inked up in my daily pen roll and it goes with me everywhere as one of my six go to pens.

ps...had poor success with colored ink (anything with particles) writes great with Qink. I like a wet pen.
