Microtome questions

Hi guys, I've offered to sharpen a mate's straight razor as he's been using a shavette for ages now and has never tried a real straight. Anyway he was given a razor by a friend and passed it on to me to clean up and sharpen last night, I knew the moment he passed me the damn box that it was going to be a wedge... I wasn't expecting a microtome though :scared: Any tips on honing this monster? I presume I just give one side the tape treatment that you'd normally reserve for a wedge and leave the other side as is. I'm just going to be using a coti for it, probably unicot

I just honed a microtome with great results. I taped both sides for setting the bevel, but refined the edge with only the flat side taped. I found kamisori tyoemratio useful; 1 flat to 2 or 3 on the hollowed
