Default Big Spring Cleaning Sale (10% going to Sue Moore Fund/Auction Fund)

The following items for sale INCLUDE regular shipping within Australia; please add $5 for regular international shipping. For ‘Registered Post’ (This provides proof of delivery and compensation of up to $A100) please add:

    CONOZ - $A10
    NZ -$A15
    Asia Pacific - $A20
    USA & Canada - $A23
UK, Europe and rest of the world - $A25

I haven’t included many pics due to the amount of stuff up for sale (in addition to not having a decent camera) and those I have inserted are more as proof of ownership than descriptive – I have been completely honest with everything in my descriptions. More than happy to send additional pics (of more expensive razors) but this won’t happen immediately and everything will be selling on a ‘first come - first served’ basis.

As stated in the title I’ll donate 10% of whatever comes in to the Sue Moore Fund (As approved by Site Admin.)

    *PAYPAL ONLY PLEASE

    1) 1917 Gillette Old Type Standard Set No. 460 (E150269) (USA). Nice razor (Nickel? plated @ 49g), plating all good/two very nice (original) blade boxes. There is a factory defect with this piece in that the head is offset to one side leaving two, very slightly, different blade angles. Black & purple case very nice inside; outside is peeling slightly at the back and the clasp is missing. Factory defect makes shaving a pain TBH, but this set would look stunning in a collection/ display. Taking into account the flaws………. = $55

    2) 1934 Christmas Special Aristocrat Razor Set: Made in USA (Gold plated @ 70g). Teeth are straighter than Jessica Alba’s and all bits align as designed (also like Jessica Alba). Plating good in parts/OK in others with that very slight ‘rosy’ coloured tinge in the knurling that some of the old/gold aristocrats get after extended time sitting in their purple case lining – haven’t really given this one a good clean…… who knows? Gold & purple case shabby inside and out. C/W original blade box in nice condition = $115 SOLD

    3) 1946-47 Aristocrat (USA). Plating is very good with slight loss on centre bar, razor is mechanically sound. Case is good externally but spring is shot and linings are in poor nick = $24 SOLD

    4) 1948 Cased Aristocrat #16, English heavyweight with more heft than Henry Cooper (Rhodium plated @ 81.4g). Plating on handle and collar is excellent/head is in great condition - although never polished thoroughly. TTO mechanism is superb. Silver & maroon case has nice exterior/inside lining is in good nick with (very slight) rusting on the blade holder/case snaps shut nicely = $175 SOLD

    5) 1948 Cased Milord Razor: Made in USA. Very nice razor; plating on head and collar is in VGC with ever so slight ‘rosy’ coloured tinge in the knurling where razor has sat in brown lining for extended time – I haven’t given this razor a good clean. Brown & white case has nice exterior (although ‘Gillette’ has faded) with interior linings in VGC = $39 SOLD

    6) 1949 Cased Aristocrat #16. English metal heavier than Judas Priest (Rhodium plated @ 80.7g). This piece is in excellent condition although some very slight scuffing/minor scratches at end of both doors (Not sure what this could be, IMHO razor possibly kept in some sort of hard case for travel at some stage?)/TTO operates as it should. Black & green/blue case is OK externally (although rust ‘bubbles’ under the black material starting to develop – as these cases are prone to do)/‘Gillette’ is nice and crisp, inside is shabby/closes nicely = $155

    7) 1953 Cased Aristocrat #66, ‘Made in England’. Nice (Rhodium plated @ 73.4g) razor. Plating is very nice/few small water spots on one door. I was in the process of refurbishing the green/grey & green case but………………..… anyway, the exterior is OK/plating around edges is excellent. Inside the green velvet material is in nice condition/case closure is not the best = $135 SOLD

    8) 1956 Cased Brit #59 (Made in England). Razor in VGC, plating very nice and all bits align as designed to. Exterior of blue & cream case has some rust on top, bottom is good/moulded bottom interior OK, cream top interior is good. A great shaver = $55

    9) 1939 Popular #47 (Made in England) Razor. Rhodium head is in beautiful condition, teeth as straight as an arrow/nickel handle in VGC except for a few small scratches where the razor has been sat on a hinged blade holder in its case. Everything seems to align well but the TTO is a bit tight – some mineral oil will fix it IMHO. Overall a very nice shave = $60 SOLD

    10) 1946-47 User grade Aristocrat (USA). Mechanically sound - that is all! = $18 SOLD

    11) 1951 (W-3) Super Speed ‘Black Tip’ (USA), nickel plated head and shoulder/aluminium handle/plastic tip, in very good nick overall = $25

    12) 1956 English made #24 Tech Set. Nice little razor, plating on head is very good/aluminium handle is clean. Case is in OK condition/transparent top is a little foggy/closes nicely. C/W 2 x B2 Blue Blades = $19

    Some Adjustables:

    1) 1962 (H-2). VGC/numbers @ 70% black = $32 SOLD

    2) 1962 (H-3). Plating good/numbers faded = $25 SOLD

    3) 1967 (M-3) Plating fair/numbers faded = $22

    4) 1962 (H-2) Plating fair/numbers faded = $22

    5) 1964 (J-3). Plating OK/numbers @ 30% black = $20 SOLD

    6) 1960 (F-2) Fatboy. Very nice razor, plating good/adjuster clicks around nicely/numbers @ 90% black/indicator still red(‘ish) = $55

*I have two Slim cases for the first Slim purchasers’ that want them. Both in fair condition (1 x White/Red & 1 x White/Gold) and both with ‘Slim Case Hinge Syndrome’ ONLY RED CASE REMAINING

    Cased Slims:

1964 (J-2) (Red) Cased Slim Adjustable Razor Set. All good, mechanically sound/numbers @ 90% black. Case in excellent condition (snaps shut/hinges intact), C/W correct blade holder & instructions = $45

1962 (H-2) (Gold) Cased Slim Adjustable Razor Set. All good, mechanically sound/numbers @ 90% black. Case in very good condition (snaps shut/hinges intact), C/W correct blade holder = $43

1946-48 Aristocrat case (USA). Exterior in excellent condition/‘Gillette’ is nice and clear/no bumps or bubbles/snaps shut beautifully. Interior is nice with top satin lose from the lid (easily fixed but have a look at the rustless lid first!), bottom velvet loose with superficial rusting starting to appear) = $17 SOLD

Empire Razor #20546: Some intrigue around this little number, razor is in good nick, case is a shabby petrified leather of some description = $7 SOLD

Holy smokes ... that's some nice looking gear.

If that's what you're selling off, I'd love to see what you're keeping for yourself.
