All straights have been honed with one layer of tape and are shave ready to my standards.
The Naniwas are in excellent condition and have been freshly lapped and the edges chamfered. The 12K comes with the box the other two do not.
The coticule is a vintage glued combo. The coti side is pretty fast on both slurry and water. I do most of the dilucot on the BBW (which is very nice) and then finish under running water on the coti side. I have finished razors on the BBW side as well and it leaves a very nice edge by itself. The slurry stone is a natural combo stone. The dimensions of the coticule are 6 x 1 3/8 x 5/8 and the slurry stone is 4 x 3/8 x 7/8.
All prices include shipping to all 50 states with delivery confirmation. I will ship internationally but it will usually be a few dollars more. If you want insurance it will be a few dollars more as well.
As always if you feel my prices are unfair or out of line, please feel free to tell me, either by posting here or by a pm stating what a fair price would be. Thanks
Straights:
1.) Dovo Special – Advertised as 5/8 but is actually between 11/16 and 6/8. This razor comes with a Dove Reindeer strop as well. The strop has a few little nicks but nothing that interferes with the stropping ability. Dovo comes in the original black plastic box with paperwork. Price: $83SOLD
2.) Clauss U.S.M.C. – 6/8 and 3/4 hollow. Blade has some pitting and staining but overall a nice blade. Bottom of the tang is jimped. I unpinned and hand sanded and polished this blade and then repined it and added some brass internal washers. Hopefully some Devil Dog will give this razor a great home for the rest of its natural shaving life! Price: $40SOLD
3.) Union Cutlery Co., Olean , NY “Manganese” – Blade is 11/16 and is full hollow. I don’t believe this razor had ever been honed before I got it as it has zero hone wear. Most of the bluing is left on the tang. This is the third "Manganese Steel" razor I have owned and the second I have honed (the other being the Dix listed below) and they have been some of the sharpest and easiest to hone razors I have used/honed. Price: $33SOLD
4.) Boker “Sioux Chief” – Blade is 11/16 and 3/4 hollow and has a slight smile to it. Price: $35SOLD
5.) Morley and Sons – Blade is 11/16 and 3/4 hollow. Many here on B&B can attest to the fact that Morley and Sons are very high quality vintage German razors. Bottom of the tang is jimped. Price: $33SOLD
6.) J.R. Torrey Razor – Blade is 5/8 and is 1/4-1/2 hollow with a barbers notch. Hand unpinned this razor and scales and hand sanded and polished the blade. I cleaned up the scales as well and repined the razor using brass rod and washers. These Torreys are very good shavers. Price: $30SOLD
7.) Dix “Manganese” – Blade is 5/8 and is full hollow. This razor has a nice hammered tang and butterscotch scales. Price: $22SOLD
8.) Clauss “Barber’s Special” – Blade is 3/4 hollow and the bottom of the tang is jimped. Price: $20SOLD
9.) Russian Razor – The blade is 11/16 and 1/4 hollow. When I originally got this razor it had a pretty good frown and took me awhile to get the bevel nice a straight. Now it shaves wonderfully. Price: $25SOLD
10.) Union Cutlery Co., Olean, NY “Spike” – The blade is 4/8 and a near wedge. This has been the third Spike I have owned and this has been the nicest one so far. It has also been the easiest of the three to hone. I actually really like shaving with these little wedges, they can take off long growth and yet are very nimble. Price: $26SOLD
11.) Johan Engstrom Frameback – The blade tapers from 6/8 at the toe to 5/8 at the heel. This blade was cut down at one time and the cutting edge is now 2 1/4”. I rescaled this razor in some scales that I had broken at the pivot hole, so I just goofed around with sanding them and shaping them and this is how they turned out, nothing fancy but useable. Here is a cheap way to try out a Swedish frameback. Price: $15SOLD
12.) Parker Shavette SR1 – Blade is 6/8 and a near wedge. That last sentence was a joke!! Has only been used a handful of times and comes with 2 of the original 5 shark blades. Price: $13
Hones:
Naniwa 3K, 8K, and 12K – Price: $165
