    Default Polo Blue. Thoughts? Alternatives?

I was thumbing through a magazine earlier today and it had a sample scent ad for Polo Blue. First time I've ever smelled it, and I kinda like it. Usually I don't like cologne because it gets me all sneezy.

What are you guys, or gals, thoughts on Polo Blue? Is it good stuff, are there better and more affordable alternatives? Advice? Opinions?

If it's the same one I have another name would be Polo Sport, and it's a good edt and a member in the Cool Water family tree. So if you like Aqua frags then I reccomend it.

Any polo sent reminds me too much of middle school.

    Not sure DFS.

Here's the actual ad for reference:

I wore Polo Blue for several years, and enjoyed it. I don't wear fresh, aqua scents often now, but would suggest you compare Bleu de Chanel before you buy. Polo Blue has a nice fresh, clean smell, and is probably better than most aqua scents, but to me Bleu de Chanel smells similar but of higher quality both on initial application and throughout the day. The Chanel is slightly more expensive, for example you can get a 1.7oz bottle for $59 at Nordstroms, and a 2.5oz bottle of Polo Blue at Macy's, but between these two I'd still go with the Chanel. I think either one would be pleasant to wear, and will get positive reactions from others who notice it on you, although they may not garner a lot of attention.

Others may have more suggestions on fresh, clean, aqua-type scents as alternatives to Polo Blue as well.

I agree with this entirely. Far from my favorite fragrance category, but if you have to go with a blue-type fresh scent, I'd go with Bleu de Chanel. If you find yourself with a couple hundred dollars lying around and are interested in splurging, you could try Creed Silver Mountain Water, which for some reason I strongly associate to Bleu de Chanel, and which might be Creed's "bluest" fragrance, so to speak.

Yep, that's what I have and I don't know where I got the Sport reference from just something I heard, but it is in the Aqua family. I like it better than Cool Water but I didn't have to pay for it as it was a gift. I don't think I'd purchase with my own money though, as the water frags aren't my favorite but a solid summer scent.

If Aquatics is part of your scent Library then this is much better than Cool Water, from a former Aquatic & Cool Water Fan!, My preferred choice would be D&G Light Blue First, Polo second.

I am usually one to go to bat for Polo. Despite their degraded reputation due to overuse of the classic Polo Green throughout the 80's, I feel like it is a masterpiece. Crest and Modern Reserve are both very, very good. It pretty much goes all downhill from there for me. Blue is a typical aquatic scent. Doesn't really bring anything compelling to the table IMO.
