What's new

Lots of natural* shave soap products, please review if you have used....

going to buy and experiment with some natural shave soaps, I don't mind the ingredients in the c.e. bigelow products to begin with, but I want to move on to a more natural approach.... I've tried kiss my face, didn't really like it too much but will retry with some shave secret, maybe different cream/water ratio.

Googling Natural Bay rum shave soap has let me to a few sites, if you have used or have anything to say about the products, please do so....

There is a whole bunch of natural, handmade, home made soaps, but I'm skeptical and this DE shaving thing is fun, but it's expensive!

Here is my Google search, pulled a lot of results....

Here is one I just found, the website is vague, I don't see s/h charges or anything...
http://piratescovesoapworks.com/bayrum3.htm

I emailed them for a more thorough ingredient list, shipping charges, etc.... I'll reply to this post when I find it....

Anyone use this before? (The shave soaps, but other products up there as well?)

Anyways, what do yall think of some of these products if you have used?

Thanks..

You may want to look through the soap reviews here on the B&B, you can find them in the navigation bar at the top of the page click "reviews".

I think i underestimate B&B, being a new member, I just seen a post on Pirates shave soap in the review section, dang! Thanks for leading me to another hour of reading when I got to wake up @ 4:30am
lol

If you want a good Bay Rum soap, try QCS's Cayman. Smells & works great! Might not be strictly "all natural" but neither does it have lather enhancers (like SLS).

Fridays are Fishtastic!
save yourself some trouble- try a DR Harris soap, or Tabac. Great lathers come from these (oh, and Speick stick)

on edit: tallow is natural, just ask a cow.

not sure what it means for a shave soap to be all natural, i've never seen one growing in the wild

... that would be pretty amazing, though

if a shave soap has olive oil in it, run away. olive oil kills lather.

This is only true if olive oil is one of the primary fats used to make the soap. A soap can use saponified olive oil & still kick ***, as long as it's farther down the list of ingredients. QCS uses olive oil in their soaps; the lather is thick, stable, slippery & protective. :thumbup1:
