Default How do you store new razor blades now?

I have some sampler packs and some new blades bought in bulk? I've seen some nice shave dens on the board but nothing for storage of new blades. The blade containers vary in size. Anyone have a great way to store loads of new blades? I was thinking maybe like one of those pencil containers that you put in drawers but I was curious to what others did.

There has to be neat ideas out there. I would have never thought of test tubes racks for razors anytime soon. Pictures would be appreciated!

I have a couple of wooden trays with partitions that I use for blades and other shaving stuff. They fit nicely in my dresser and keep things organized and handy.

I have a really big closet in the bathroom that is perfect for storing shave stuff. Two shelves in it are dedicated to shaving gear. The blades that I have "in bulk" are wrapped, so I don't have to worry about humidity with them. Others (such as Schick) don't rust to begin with, so I don't need to take precautions with those either.

Next to my razors, sitting on a towel in a drawer. Though I just ordered 100 ISP's in the Crystal packaging. So they might have to move down to the cabinet below the drawer with some of my larger shaving supplies.

HOPEFULLY I will no longer be buying anymore shaving products for a good while...expect maybe a few more razors, my collection isn't complete. Oh and I might need to pick up another few pucks of soap. Then there is the new interest I am having in picking up a GEM and some blades from Ted Pella...

I don't think I was worried about proper storage. More like what does it look like in your "shave den".

Personally, the blades I have are stacked inside my medicine chest. Of course, I'm single and I don't have to worry about WAF, so this may not work for the rest of you guys.

Ah. Well, it doesn't look like much because the closet door remains closed. I only keep a few items out on display, I like a cleared off counter top. But I am considering a wall cabinet that is about medicine cabinet sized with glass in the double doors. That would make for a nice display setup.

I keep most of it in the medicine cabinet too with the blades in a drawer. Just the stand, the brush, and the razor I'm using is out. I figure most people stored their blades out of sight though and with the blade sampler pack, they come in all sorts of different packaging. Some boxed, some in the plastic slideout containers, some just plain loose. It slides all around in the drawer.

I wonder if there was a tray with dividers to store loose paper-wrapped blades since all blades are standardized. You could use the labels on the plastic pushout trays to organize the blades.

So this is a bad drawing but maybe something like this with the blades out of their containers in standard blade width trays...

I open up all of my blades, remove the wrappers, and toss 'em in a drawer. Every Sunday night, I open the drawer, drag my fingers across them, and whichever blade embeds itself into a finger is the blade I use for the next week!

Okay, I just keep 'em in a drawer.

HAHA! Well, at least you'll get all your sampler pack that way!

I have a decent size sampler pack as well. I keep the blades in a ziplock bag. When I test out a new blade, I take the box out of the bag, take a blade, and put the rest under my sink in a tested blades pile. Once I have tried all my blades, I'll put them back in the bag. Lame, but it works.

I have a couple "Elementary School Style" pencil boxes I keep in my cabinet/vanity under my sink. They are not air tight but they wouldn't get wet if water were splashed on them either.

Good idea with the pencil boxes. I am sure many members have some very smart solutions for storage of their gear.

For blades I buy in bulk I vacuum seal them with my food sealer in 5 pack lots. This keeps out air and humidity - the key ingredients for oxidation that causes blades to dull in storage. Once I cut open a 5 pack lot the remaining 4 are put in a heavy (freezer) zip lock.

I store my blades in their original 5-10 blade cases, the Derby's and Wilkinsons have their own little white plastic storage case. Then I have this larger case made by Plano, see link below, that comes with dividers. I made them so they just fit a stack of about 4 cases of blades each compartment. I think I made about 15-20 compartments. I store about 300-400 blades in all. I also added about 4-5 little packs of silica gel to keep moisture out in some compartments. I also store my DE razors in larger Plano cases in bubble wrap with silica gel.

So in addition to finding a neat way to store razors, it's important to keep them sealed. That makes sense, especially if you want in bulk and we mostly dump our razor blades after exposure to water and whiskers after a week at most. So any ideas for a neat way to organize loose blades AND keep them safe from the elements for those of us who buy in bulk?
