Default can i ask for a little advice

i started shaving at the start of the year with this kit

then for my 18th birthday i asked for a straight razor and they got me this

it gives a really good shave with a tub of tabac which ive been using since july.

i was wondering guys what hones do you use?, personally i find the hone that came with it difficult to sharpen it with (it came unsharped if i remember right, but managed to sharpen it right)

    Wlecome aboard!

Wow! That stone is rated as "up to 2500 grit." If you think you've got a shaveable edge now, wait until you step it up a little. The Norton 4000/8000 stone will be a marked improvement, as would many other hones (Naniwa, BBW, coti, etc....).

I can't help you with hones, stones, or anything else having to do with straight razors. My only advice would be to ask on the straight razor forum.

    Welcome aboard.

See HERE for the same stone. (rated 2500). As to where to find the Nortons, there are several very good vendors here (e.g West Coast Shaving), but you might find them on sale through Amazon from time to time. Also as mentioned, the Honing forum is a wealth of knowledge.

Pssst. lots ofs top-secret information can be found here as well. Shhhhhh!
