Default First DE Shave Went GREAT!

OK, I have saved up about a week without shaving in anticipation of my first shave with a DE razor after reading these forums for a while and throwing my disposables in the trash. I posted in the Check In forum and described how I would love to take up wet shaving and find a razor like my Dad used when I was a kid. After some research and finding out it was a 60s Slim, Clayton (Chevyguy) informed me he might have one for me...He DID! Clayton hooked me up big time with a '68 Slim, brush, creams and blades. I am so thankful and owe him BIG TIME!

I made a post here yesterday with a score I found of some early Gillette's at a second hand store but put off using them until the package from Clayton arrived as I wanted my first DE shave to be with the one like my Dad had.

Long story short, I had the best shave of my life! Not only was it fun and relaxing but the shave was almost BBS. I only notice a little left under the chin which is always a hard part for me. I have to say this is by far a better shave than I have ever had with disposables. Why did this technology go away for the disposables? I had a great time.

I dialed the Slim in on 4 and shaved WTG, ATG and XTG. Only a couple very small red dots when finished and I feel no razor burn or irritation. I followed up the shave with a few splashes of cheap Walmart Witch Hazel, a light rub of Nivea followed by a splash of Old Spice that was a Christmas gift to me back in 1989 that I never used until now. Like I said, what a great time. I even played some very early Big Band era Sinatra in the background and I felt swept away in time.

I will never look back! Thanks Clayton!

    Chris.

triple pass on your first go ... that's some going. the consensus in these here parts tends to be that you should spend a good 3 months shaving with the grain only to allow your skin chance to get used to the blades.
well done though ... sounds like you nailed it! :)

1968 slim. Sweet after using the Wilkinson Classic for years I too got hold of a 1967 slim about . That's what got me 'into ' seeing shaving as my time not a chore. Hope you enjoy and well done.
