As the weather turns cooler here I am now in the market for a new hat. This fall/winter I want to try out a bowler but the shops in Japan seem to only sell over priced flimsy fashionista garbage. Any recommendations for online haberdashers?

Much appreciated, I have been looking at Christys'. Good to hear a referral.
I do have a Christy's myself (photo forthcoming one of these days, as I promised in the bowler thread). They're very well made hats and quite comfortable. Make sure you have the right measurements for your head as my local hat shop warned me. Get that and the hat fits perfectly, obviously (they can be a little snug).
