I have a Merkur Futur which I am very happy with but I am thinking about buying a non-adjustable, I prefer razors with a long handle so 12C or 38C any opinions?

Duke ...it just depends on if you like the look and feel/performance of the open comb. Should be a slight difference if you have a very heavy beard on the open comb or traditional Fixed head Merkur. I added my review of the Merkur 38C to the safety razor review section today. It is the only razor I use... and I have used......a few (hundred)

I thought I might be able to weigh in on this, but as it turns out I have a question. Is the 12 a long screw set or a short screw set? The same question for the 38. I'm looking through the Merkur catalog, but as they are new items they are not pictured.
The 23 and 25, two other long-handled razors, both have short screw sets and this makes me think that the 12 and 38 may be as well. Just something to consider. For what it's worth, I prefer the long screw sets.

My only regret is that I have but one face to shave.
The 12C and 38C are "2-piece" razors, or what you are calling "long screw".
The 23C and 25C are "3-piece" razors, with the short screw.
The 38C is the classic safety bar on the long, heavy, barberpole handle, and the 12C is the open comb version. The 38C is pictured here, and the 12C is here. The one you can't have is pictured here.![]()
