I sent them an email a while back as well, no response..
So I went ahead and bought some DOVO shaving "cream"(about the same hardness as Cella) , which is the same.

yes,a relabeled dovo is what I hear as well...the fiori has a nice label and tub,and it has to be good, dovo is rated fairly high with shavers..

The tub is the same, but the F&F has a nicer label :001_smile

Yeah it's very good. I have both the Eucalyptus and the Almond versions, both are fairly mild in scent, more clean and soapy than having strong eucalyptus or almond scents. Can seem to not make much lather at first, but hit with a wet brush and a minute of loading, the reward is a bunch of great lather... :001_smile

I used Marco's Method and it works excellent. Never seen so much lather after a minute of loading lol. Also The consistency of my DOVO mint is hard to mix and is more like a hard clay. Anyone else's dovo like this?

Both my Dovo's are pretty hard, no cream by any means. :001_smile

My Dovo mint is like that. I want to find a quick way to use it as a shave stick, because tub-lathering it is messy.

Those who called it a cream must have been hitting the Grappa pretty hard that day. :001_tongu

It behaves a little different from most of my other Italian soaps, if you add too much water it loses it's slickness fast, so it's best made really thick and dense.
Great stuff.

Yes,I had the same problem with Dovo and eventually I threw it in the trash.I ran out of patience!

You load it with a brush in the tub like any other soap really, no difference. You threw away a pefectly good soap!

Hi Blix,
I have no problem with making lather from the several creams I use(Trumper Coconut,CF Lime and DB Harris Arlington). But I had a helluva time developing much lather at all with the Dovo. What do you think I was doing wrong?

Thanks,
Craig

craig,I know your question is aimed at Blix, but I will put in my 2 cents if you don't object...I occasionally have this problem as well, and there are soaps and creams that just refuse to give up good lather. besides adjusting your soap or cream to water ratio, you may try floating a puddle of very hot water on top of the soap for 5 minutes, this will emulsify the top layer, and the 5 minutes will cool the water enough to dip your brush into...another trick that works for me is not to "swirl" the brush, but rather gather up the lower part of the bristles in your hand, and using the condensed bottom tips go back and forth to obtain a soap concentration on the brush, then bowl or face lather adding a little water until you hit paydirt.....all in all,you will find a few soaps that will not comply..

malocchio covered it good, but you only mentions creams, while the Dovo is called a cream on the tub, it's more of a normal semi-hard soap, so what I do is soak my brush, and just give it one shake, keeping it quite wet. Then I load directly in the tub for 60 seconds, usually holding it over my bowl so the suds that develop while loading also get in the bowl.
Is struggled a bit when I first got mine too and was like "*** is this crap?"
but a few tries later there was plenty of thick and nice lather to be had. :001_smile

Va bene malocchio. Tante grazie for the advice.I will try what you suggest. By the way,and I've told you before, I love that moniker,'malocchio'. My late dad would say it often times in jest when something went wrong or he lost a wager. In our Genovese dialect it literally means "evil eye". Very bad luck !
