The bottom seems like a hardened leather or fabric on it so I left it. I am wary of submerging it though. I know these handles are more often than not filled with plaster so I don't want to blow out the plastic and I am considering chiseling out a small depth of the plaster and either filling it with a black epoxy or an epoxy/coin cap. Any other suggestions? This brush makes lather explode in the bowl and is a huge difference from my omega pro 49! The size difference had me worried but wow!

Nice job...looks like a great daily-use brush. I like the idea of chiseling out a cavity in the base and gluing in an attractive coin. It would also add a little weight to the handle.

Here is an update of the bloom.
Also pictured is my omega pro 49 for comparison.
