Default The wife is turning 40 next week

My wife is turning 40 next week & we are having a big party for her at this hall we rented for the night, but I just don't know what to get her as a gift. She has pretty much every thing so I think any good suggestions on a nice gift??
    Thanks

A spa weekend? Is she into that sort of thing? Anyway, if you can't think of an object, think of an experience that she might enjoy.

Nice bottle of wine/champagne to enjoy when you're alone with her? Or a kitchen remodel.

I have yet to have SWMBO turn down a "Honey, what do you think about taking a cruise?" type of question. Picking the itinerary was half the fun for her (okay, not quite half the fun )

One hint - she's turning 33, not 40. Just run with it.....

Depending on budget, which would be helpful,
    A Cartier watch
    A Rolex
A nice bracelet engraved with "Happy 39th Birthday Kitten(or whatever pet name you call her)"
A substantial bottle of real French Perfume. (not eau de parfum)
    Pearls (earrings or necklace)

My opinion is on a gift like this, make it something she can hold on to and remember. No gift certificates. No wine. No bowling balls or beer of the month club.

I'm guessing you know your wife pretty well.

Tell us what type of person she is and what sort of things she likes? Is there something that she has wanted for a while or is there something she would like to do or try? Maybe somewhere she would like to go? Give us a few hints here......

Damm, I was going to suggest a Beer of the Month Club membership.

I would suggest the romantic, getaway vacation, cruise, Bed and Breakfast - choose one.

In addition to the other nice gifts, I suggest you make a "book" for her, a "This is Your Life" book. Use a scrap book and paste pictures of her starting with baby pictures and all the way up to today, and make up clever headings to write under each picture. You can be funny, touching, factual, whatever works for you. I've done this for my wife, and for several friends and even had a couple of friends ask me to help them when they made one for a family member. Everyone loves these, especially when they are funny. You can enlist others to help you with picture selection and captions.
