Default FS: Dovo Best **2 Days Old**

    SOLD

    Gentlemen,
Up for sale is a two day old Dovo Best 5/8 Half-Hollow Razor (can include a copy of the receipt if you like). The razor just arrived last Thursday from Superior Shave and as claimed by them to be professionally honed before shipped. I tried this razor and realize straight blade is not for me. I will be using the DE razors.

Prices range from $81 and up.

I would like $55 shipped in the CONUS. I can ship internationally if needed.

Gentlemen, thank you for all the PM's - I am amazed at how many people would of liked this razor, all within a mere couple of hours of putting up the for sale. Unfortunately the razor has been sold - I wish I had more than one but I don't. Thank you guys... you all are a great bunch

PS.. If a mod wishes to delete this thread so it does not clog up the BST thread, please feel free to go right ahead since the razor has been sold. If I can do that myself to make life easier, please just let me know how to. Thanks...

what went wrong? lots of pulling, bad shave? a cut? you're not the first. i'd bet the blade is plenty sharp, your method is not yet correct. it takes time. why did you want to start with straights?

Is the blade 5/8 or 6/8? Is it half hollow or full hollow?

You guys are awesome!! Thank you for the offers. Don't shoot me but I think I am going to pick up a Feather All Stainless. Kind of enjoying the DE89L at this point as well.

Beautiful razor but if it isn't for you, find something that works. It is your face after all.

PM sent, but take your time if you need it.

+1. You can always try it again if you want. I've done this a number of times with blades, razors, etc.

Good deal on the razor, but I hate to see somebody give up on straights that fast... there is an initial frustration period you have to get through, but it's worth it.

I think you'll have a slight issue with the Feather versus the EJ89. The handle angle to your face to get a good shave seems to me to be quite different from most other DEs. I have one and have to take a couple of days getting used to the feel of the razor versus my 34C and EJ89. Same thing versus the Super Speeds. The Feather is a fine piece of craftsmanship, but it doesn't shave one iota better than the others. For me, the EJ89s and the late 40s SS are better shavers.

Like the other posters are saying, don't give upon straights just yet. I'm at the point of starting with them, and I realize that there's going to be a period of awkwardness and fear for a while. I'll go in gradually and it'll be OK. Just in case, I'll go down to the Red Cross and give blood before I start. That way I'll be covered if I really get FUBARed.

Drybonz - I bought the Dovo but gave him the opportunity to get it back if he changes his mind back. At least he hasn't gone back to the cart side.

Thank you guys... perhaps one day down the road I will give straights a try again. I admit, one day is probably not a fair try but something just does not seem right about it to me. It seems very awkward. BUT.. if I get bored of the other razors and am feeling brave and patient, I just might be back on the straight edge side of the board.. for now though, DE's it is for the time being... Thank you all though.. this place is truly filled with the nicest people I have ever seen on any forum!

It can be very awkward at first. Heh. I remember when I started, my upper lip shook more than Tokyo. It was SCARY. I didn't have any more cartridges, though, and I'm rather stubborn anyway. After a week, it stopped being as scary and awkward. Now I find shaving with anything else awkward.
