Then you're flat wrong. The cream does not "suck" as I and many here will attest. It is quite moisturizing as I and many will attest. Maybe you should try a slightly different approach to your communicating skills because as of now, you have little to no cred when you make such over the top and ridiculous statements.

Used Trafalgar for the second time this morning. I think this one might be my favorite. The only one I have left after this is Ultimate Comfort. As with all the other flavors the lather was easy and plentiful and the balm left my face feeling very good.

I have continued to use my T&H samples, and have now used 1805-Grafton-Trafalgar-Limes-Ultimate Comfort. The WIL and UC are the more recent ones I've tried. I am finding that all the creams perform the exact same, which is a good thing. The performance of the T&H creams is top notch. Same for the balms. I typically use Thayers Original or Superhazel immediately after shaving, and then follow that with a balm after a few minutes. I have found that the T&H balms are a touch greasy when I do that. However, if I use alum instead, the T&H balms are almost perfect. Their scents don't have a lot of staying power, but the efficacy is great.

As for the WIL cream and balm, I have only used them one time. I haven't used them again because I think I had some sort of reaction. My forehead felt kinda tingly and burnt. I think that was the first time any shaving product has done that to me. I should probably give the WIL another try just to see if it was a freak thing that day, or if I am allergic to something in them. Roger Smith, do you think maybe you had a similar reaction to the Rose?

The Ultimate Comfort cream seemed like just an unscented version of all the other creams. Kinda boring. But the Ultimate Comfort balm? AWESOME. It may not have the best rep with some, but I love it. It has a lavender scent right off the bat, but that is gone almost by the time you can get it on your face. It moisturizes well enough, but is not greasy at all. It dries to a nice matte finish, whereas the other balms are a touch more oily. I think this may be the ideal unscented balm to use before splashes. I have a couple others to try, but I imagine I will be buying a tube of the UC balm in the near future.

As for the T&H scents, I rate them in this order so far - Trafalgar, Grafton, 1805, WIL.

This is the second thread where I've noticed you making very insulting statements toward others and taking people's criticisms personally. Maybe you should chill out a little. Everyone has different experiences, and a cream that "sucks" for some may be awesome for others. T&H Ultimate Comfort cream has an ingredient in it that burns my face, so it really did "suck" for me. Others find it to be the greatest cream ever. YMMV.

I'm usually an alum user but for testing I tried witch hazel instead or nothing before a couple of the balms. My experience is exactly as you said. Wonderful after alum, slightly greasy otherwise.

Finally received my sample pack! 3 weeks to Western Canada!

I had already shaved today but I opened up the Grafton ASB to try. The scent is nice, not for me but decent. I would say it is more mature (classic cologne scent), being in my early 20's I don't see this as a contender so far for purchase of full size. Performance wise the ASB seems to do excellent. Scent lingers but not noticeably.

    Default Trafalgar! Wow

Time to resurrect this thread as I just finished my sampler pack tonight. My lasting impression, many lovely scents, excellent quality lather, and YMMV could not be better represented.

My favorite: Trafalgar by a nose over Grafton. I loved both these scents and would rate them equally; however, the lady of the house thought Grafton a bit too rosy. Trafalgar on the other hand was spicy woods with maybe a hint of white flower (but I'm no expert). A tub of this will be headed my way.

Next tier were the surprises. I really liked the Almond. A sweet but clean almond scent. Also liked Ultimate Comfort quite a bit with its clean, subtle scent. I wasn't expecting to like either of these, especially the almond. Now I want to sample some other almond scents to compare.

Biggest (only) disappointment was WI Lime. I tend to like lime and citrus scents and was fully expecting to love this. Alas, it was not to be. Maybe Castle Forbes will be the next stop on the search for a good lime scent.

So here are my rankings: Trafalgar > Grafton > Almond > UC > 1805 > Sandalwood > Rose > Lavender > WI Limes.

    Cheers gents!

Quick Addendum: Got my Trafalgar tub today and notice a much more balanced scent than the sample. Very nice floral, spice, and woods. Still my favorite.

    Default Meh.

I bought the sampler pack a while ago. I loved the scents of all of the soaps I tried from it - especially the 1805. They all lathered up nicely but I had glide issues also. I couldn't match the shaving results I was getting with other creams. So I gathered up the remaining soaps and put them on my shelf of products that don't get much use. I didn't think I had this many samples left over. I'll probably PIF them or something eventually.

I enjoyed the aftershave and cologne samples more than the creams. I'm glad they offer the sample bags. A tub of their cream ($30) with a bottle of aftershave($45) and cologne($75)= $150

We should have made a trade. I loved the creams but didn't care for the ASBs at all. Glide was not an issue. I only have 2 ASBs left now...the Grafton & the Trafalgar.

Ultimate Comfort has been my favorite out of all of them. I liked the 1805 quite a bit at first, but I soon tired of the scent. I loved the performance of the creams, but Ultimate Comfort is the only one I would by so far. I still need to try the Grafton & Trafalgar yet though.

I just finished my T&H Samples last night. They all performed wonderfully, obviously. The only difference was scent. The last one I used was Trafalgar and while I initially liked the scent, it soon became overpowering, particularly when lathered, and it slightly irritated my face. It was the only sample I threw away before finishing.

My top two were the Ultimate Comfort and the Grafton. I initially liked 1805, but that scent grew tiring. Almond I did not care for at all, and the rest were just ok.

I would buy Ultimate Comfort and Grafton, but not any of the others.

I ordered the sampler directly from T&H using the B&B discount. I was blown away by the speed of shipment. I ordered on Wednesday and the package arrived this afternoon - 2 days! I am eager to give these a shot, and will be sure to post my thoughts along the way. My hopes are high. But I am trying to keep them to a point where I am not setting myself up for disappointment if they aren't what I have built up in my mind.

I followed up my sampler experience with 2 Grafton tubs in a row. It's my "go to" winter cream. Trafalgar was my second choice, but I'm sticking with Grafton.

I would like to congratulate the company for making these samplers available. It's one of those rare cases these days where good marketing also serves the interest of the customer.

I just tested the Grafton last night. I was super excited to try this one based on some of the reviews I had read.

My girlfriend gave it an 8/10 on the scent scale. Personally, this reminded me of something that my dad would wear. I was not impressed with this scent. To me, it smelled like a $5 drug store aftershave...Skin Bracer or something. I was hoping for something much more complex than what my nose was able to pick up. Something more sophisticated.

Just another example of YMMV. Some love it, others shy away from it. Thank God T&H offers a sampler for us to give it our own test drive.

T&h is great for lathering ease and longevity. Glide has been an issue for me and the scents are simply overpowering to me. Also whatever is in it prevents me from using it more than two days in a row.

I went through the sample pack, too. Only scent I really liked was almond. Performance was descent, not nearly good enough to justify the cost of a tub. AOS kills T&H in all regards, from performance to scent. I've even had smoother, more comfortable shaves with VDH soap and KMF applied by hand. The balms were useless to me with my oily skin, though that's the case with most ASBs. Still, I'm grateful they make a sample pack. I don't regret it.
