    Default Penmanship on CBS Sunday

Anybody see the show last Sunday? I thought it was very interesting how big the impact of a hand written note can be for someone. I haven't hand written a note and sent it snail-mail in decades. Gotta start I think.

My recent order from isellpens had a handwritten thank you note on the invoice. Very nice touch, you don't see that a lot.

That's what I thought too. Cool interview, though.

That was neat and interesting. I wonder how much more time is spent on computers rather than pencils in grade school now days?

Cool story. I know that even in college classes a lot of people use a laptop to take notes...

Thanks for sharing, I loved this.

I used to hate cursive when I was a kid, but I'm strongly considering taking it up again now. There's something authentic and therapeutic about writing notes and letters, you know? I want to start with calligraphy too, and if I get decent at it, I'll start sending out calligraphed Christmas cards every year.

I take notes by hand for several reasons. For one, I find it far easier to jot down math notations or anything graphical. Second, there's nothing to distract you. It's just a pen and paper.

I'm back in school after years off, so I'm a few years older than the average college student. Many people bring their computers to class, but it seems as though a large number of them aren't using them to take notes. Just the other day I sat in the second row in a class. In the very front row, a girl sat down and opened her computer. Throughout the entire class, she was browsing the internet, checking Facebook and watching youtube. I explained to her discreetly afterwards that I didn't care what she was doing in class but that all the movement was extremely distracting to me and likely everybody behind her. I think she understood that she needed to be in the back if she wanted to continue the same course of action at a later class.

I didn't see the show, but I'd be interested to see it if it's available online. I used to hate penmanship class when I was a kid, but I'm glad that I had it. I don't understand how anyone can take notes on a computer, all the clicking is so distracting. Give me a good fountain pen and paper any day (although I really prefer dip pens).

I thought Tim was going to be on TV or something....thought he was holding out and being modest by not telling me, but alas....it's just about "hand writing".

I have seen people do this in corporate meetings. A mentor once told me, nothing will make you look more like a note-taker of little importance than to type away on a keyboard during an important meeting.
