Wow! Hot lather!

I normally shave after my shower and while I'm showering, my brush is soaking inside my shavebowl which is in my bathroom sink filled with hot water. Once I dry off, I generate my lather in the bowl, rewet my face with hot water, lather my face, then begin my shave. As my razor is on it's course, my shave brush is back in the bowl soaking in the sink for the next round.
I've noticed that the second and subsequent latherings are quite warmer than the first.
Today, I tried something different. I made my lather first and let it sit in the bowl soaking in the sink while I showered. When I got out, I had hot lather. It was like everything was prepared for me. I didn't have to work up a sweat to make the cream. Heck, I didn't even have to rewet my face with the hot towel as I normally do. It also seemed to take less time in the long run.

You guys have got to try this and tell me what you think

I have tried this a few times, but I am too impatient to let it get warm enough. It definitely works, though.

Isn't this why people use a scuttle (or something similar) to make lather in? Anyway I have my shaving mug stand in a slightly larger bowl filled with hot water. Gives nice warm lather and it actually seems to help my lathering skills for some reason...

Which is what I almost always do. I use two ceramic bowls, one slightly larger.

Today, I tried to do the same thing, but it didn't work as well. I didn't create as much lather as I did yesterday and it started to break down while I showered. So, with that being said, I'm guessing you need a large amount.

I agree that a scuttle works in the same manner, but my point was that if you create the later first, it has about ten minutes or so to warm in the bowl before going on your face.

I think I will try this. The only thing I miss about the "goo in a can" is the contraption that you put the can in that allows you to dispense warm lather.

So you guys are telling me that I don't have let my brush soak in hot water while I shower? I thought this was the typical routine to prep the brush. But if I can skip it and prep lather before the shower, well it is tempting.

It's more personal preference than anything. You certainly don't have to let the brush soak while you shower. Nothing wrong with dropping it in the sink, giving it a swirl, and then going about making lather.

Nothing is set in stone. You should try out as many different things as you can to see what works good enough for you.
