Oldest Single Ring known

I have a Single Ring #E210504. It appears to be Silver plated, but I'm not certain. Inside the handle is Br. Pat. No. 2876302. The Diamond Gillette logo is very faint and can be seen on top of the base-plate. The base-plate is fixed to the handle.

Is this a British model? It doesn't say where it was made. I can't figure out the date since the serial number doesn't match up with those in the Wiki.

Yes it is a British made single ring. The serial numbers don't line up with the US ones in the wiki

Anyway to pin a date on this? Or at least a range? At first, I was thinking 1905, but now I'm more confused than when I started.

Difficult to pin down, I think. It is safe to say pre-1917, when the first UK patent would have expired. But that does not help much, does it?

Looking at Gillette_Timeline we read that the first UK factory was built in Leicester and was in operation from 1909-1912, according to King Camp Gillette (Gillette Blade in 1918). Leicester may have produced a few razors in 1908. But before that... were there no razors with the UK patent number? King Camp does say that "Up to 1905 a small number of razors and blades had been shipped to England." But he is vague about what happened between then and 1909, and naturally he does not share our interest in how the razors were marked. Possibly when he writes about a London office, he neglects to mention some local manufacturing done under contract? Or maybe there were razors from the Boston plant with the UK patent number and their own serial number sequence?

Muddying the waters further, we have http://mr-razor.com/Rasierer/Old Type/1906-1908 Standard Set England.JPG with its H-series serial number, UK patent, and a script logo case. Achim places it as Made in England 1906-08. I am not sure how to reconcile that with King Camp's timeline for the Leicester factory. I hesitate to contradict Achim, but it seems to me that a UK patent number might have been stamped on razors made elsewhere.

Thanks for fixing this and adding me. I thought I was going crazy because I couldn't find the list except in various posts.

I wish to add my 1905 Single Ring (356438) to the above list. How is this done? My Photos are on the page with the Thread titled " SINGLE RING ANOMALY", below Mr. Razor's Pictures of his 1905 Single Ring.

This thread made me want to get excited and look at my single ring serial number. C121105. That dates it to 1911 so not very exciting, huh?
