i'd still like to hear why the difference between the REGULAR bst and the HOBBIEST exists.

if it is to keep the thread "so that the posts are concentrated to promoting the sellers' wares", then why not have that apply to regular members.

i've seen stuff on the HOBBIEST that is out of line for price and/or descriptions are wrong...plus like you said, there is no recourse for posting feedback once you receive the item in the HOBBIEST BST

    paid for versus free.

Mull that one over for just a bit - stepping into the shoes of somebody that is paying for their space - and maybe you'll think of some reasons. Members are free to PM the hobbyist with their concerns, criticisms, happiness, advice and feedback.

really, only the seller knows how many PM's he got and/or what order he is choosing to sell the items.
I've tried to purchase items within 30 seconds of them being posted only to have it sold hours later to someone else. This is the seller's prerogative but is rather annoying when it happens to you personally.

It would be best in situations where you want to sell something to a pre-defined group to offer it privately rather than list it publicly then wait for someone to show up, ignoring all others while waiting.

A few have made it on my ignore lists because of this.

agreed, i've had it happen to me as well.

if someone is going to sell and give priority to Veterans, Contributors, fellow Countryman or whatever, they should be putting that in the listing, otherwise it should be implied that the 1st PM claiming it and that follows thru with prompt payment takes it.

i would not expect someone to have a listing, accept a PM of "I'll take it", follow up PM with Paypal of where to send and then sit and wait 48hrs for payment.

most of these listing, if they are good, are listed, PM'd, sold and paid all within minutes, if not hours.

These quotes illustrate the misconceptions that can happen around PM Sent postings. Yes, there has never been a clear rule established about them. Some think it indicates the item has been sold. Some think that the potential buyer has rights to the item because he posted PM Sent first. All are just assumptions that this community has never formally agreed upon.

A few years back there was a big dust up over a PM Sent message. The potential buyer posted a PM Sent to the thread first, and then sent the PM. Someone else had already PM'ed the buyer before him and got the item. The guy who lost out complained thinking (wrongly) that there was a rule that the first person to post PM Sent in the thread gets the item.

As I see it, posting PM Sent is completely useless in this forum. The person you are notifying with that post has already received notification through the forum software. It has been useful in the past when the software used for forums didn't have a notification feature, but that doesn't apply here. And posting PM Sent can mean anything, and doesn't say who it was sent to, although the implication has always been the original poster. PM Sent messages are simply junk postings around here. It's something that should simply stop.

Yes, you can only attach five pictures per post. If you have more than five pictures to post, attach the others in additional posts or upload your pictures to a third party website like Photobucket and link to the pictures from there.

I make a collage of 4 or 5 pics and use that as a single pic.

I've tried doing that, it wouldn't allow me to upload a 6th picture. It displayed error notifications when I tried to upload several more pics. I'll try copying the links and pasting them in the posts.

I don't know what you to tell you. Krona Kruiser just did it in his latest FS thread just fine.

You can attach five to the thread but for a better job of it, host them in the B&B gallery or off sight and just insert the URL in insert photo Button, the one that looks like a picture frame(next to the break link icon in your editor).

From photobucket you hover your cursor over the thumbnail and a box pops up, click on the bottom entry that says "IMG Code" it copies to your clipboard automatically and then paste that directly into your post.
No need to use the insert URL function and you can paste as many as you want.
