If a seller decides his buddy should get the sale item, he can sell it to him if he's the last guy to fired off a PM on the item. Know this and proceed accordingly.

Point of this post is to spread the word, and encourage the moderators and stewards to highlight, that posting "PM Sent" is a no-no and a waste of time. And a secondary point to my post is to debunk the idea that if you PM first for a BST sale item, it's a guarantee you won the item. Again, BST is seller-centric and they can sell to whomever they so desire. This forum might seem like a "buzzer game show" with the quickest hand to the buzzer becoming the winner. No, brothers, this is not simply a race to the buzzer...there are rules that give seller 5 miles of leeway to sell to anyone they choose under the rules.
This from Phil's Info Post (It's been stickied):

6.) Transactions in the B/S/T are to be conducted via Private Message, not in thread. Sellers may choose to whom they sell their items and are not required to sell to the first responder.
Everyone should read the sticky before they jump into the BST, and it doesn't hurt to go back and look at it every now and then. The info in there is useful when you are getting your feet wet, but it's also useful once you become more familiar with how things work. If a situation comes up that isn't covered, we'll get things straightened out. But, for the most part, the guidelines in there will cover just about anything that comes up. I think that this seems like a big deal to you because you lost out on a sale. Now you know, and I would be extremely surprised if you responded the same way again. The lesson I would take away from this isn't to publicize this one particular rule: it's to read the stickies, the TOU, etc. That's what is going to help you out in the next situation that isn't covered by rule #6.

Any member who has an item for sale in the BST and gets a "PM sent" post in his thread that he doesn't want can personally PM me and I will remove it.

also, what people have to realize sometimes is, just because someone puts "PM sent" doesn't mean they are buying it or it's sold. I've sent a PM after I've seen that and still got the item, or seen people post after that "Nice pickup" and then it's followed up a few hours or a day later by the OP that the item is "still for sale"

Just because a PM was sent, doesn't mean it was an offer to purchase or an accepted offer etc.

I've now started PMing, sitting back and waiting. Some of these items are getting 10-15 pm's in a matter of minutes of being offered, so the OP may or may not get around to repling to all the PM's or any of them.

my advise: Send a PM, wait for a reply.

Which are the forum sections that constitute "core areas" where members need to make at least 50 posts? Is B/S/T also considered a "core area". I'd appreciate if mods can post a definitive list of forum topics where members need to make their 50 posts.

Apologies if this has been answered before. However, I'm posting this after having searched this thread for posts relevant to my questions and being unable to see any such posts.

There might be a couple small exceptions, but basically anything under "Site Administration" and "The Marketplace", as well as the Clown House of course, aren't "core" areas. If it's not an area where conversations take place, it doesn't count.

Any forum or subforum that's shaving related are core areas. IIRC, The Mess Hall, The Haberdashery and subforums like that aren't core areas.

    Thank you Chris & AJ,

That explains why the "create thread" option in the B/S/T forum is not yet enabled for me. Even though I have made more than 50 posts, many are in the marketplace area. I'll rectify this with meaningful posts in the core areas!

You're not able to create a thread yet because you haven't been a member for 45 days yet. Your 45th day is coming up soon though.

Quite right, your first post was on September 23 so 45 days from then you will be able to use the BST.

    Thanks James.

Thanks Jim, I also noticed that my join date has now been changed to 23rd of September 2012 whereas my actual join date is 28th of August 2012. May I know if it is B&B policy to change the join date of members to the date of their first post?

Hello all! I just joined the wet shaving phenomenon, and this site was one of the reasons. As such, I just joined the site. It looks as if I can't post a thread in the B/S/T section until I meet some criteria that I'm not even close to. It seems as if the rules state that you can't sell or trade until you meet the criteria, but what about posting a WTB thread?

the BST is all the same criteria, days active, posts etc. WTB, WTT or FS all are the same criteria.

you are allowed to purchase at any time.

So i guess you can only post a new thread in the BST once every two weeks? this is a new addition, yes? why? 2 weeks seems like an awful long time.

For a trade: I never know if the first thing listed is the one you have or the one you want ... someone want to clarify the typical syntax here? for instance in this post:

    http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...for-5-Feathers

Does this mean he has Med-Prep and wants Feathers, or the other way around? I never know and I want to be helpful but not stupid.

For instance I HAVE Feathers and would love to help but I didn't know which was right.

The syntax would indicate that he had 5 Med Preps and he wished to get 5 Feathers, but the most accurate means of determining what someone has and what they want, once you have a sufficient quantity of posts and time to participate in trades, is to drop them a PM and ask outright.

    http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...bout-the-B-S-T

Eligibility to sell/trade: Participation in the community at Badger and Blade is a requirement to sell items or to participate in a trade. Sellers/traders must be members of B&B for at least 45 days and have contributed a minimum of 50 quality posts on this site in order to qualify to sell or trade. The vast majority of a member's posts should be in the core areas of B&B.
This is also a legitimate question that can be asked in the particular thread where the trade is taking place.
