Default Blade Angles of The Gurus

I'm nearly 5 months in with DE/SE shaving. I've come a long way in that short time but still consider myself new at all this. Always looking to learn from others, I watched a few of Geofatboy's vids for the first time and I noticed quite a difference in blade angle from that of Mantic's. I understand that blade angle can range from 30-45 degrees but to my eyes the difference in angle between these two men is quite noticible. It's not my intention to call either one out on their technique (for all I know they both may be correct). I'm just trying to nail down my own blade angle as I still don't really have a grasp on it. And as such have burned my face a few times now trying to adjust for that sweet spot. Just when I think I have it, I read or see something that takes me a step back. There's no doubt I'm getting closer shaves but I'm sometimes getting more burn too. Thank the Italians for Proraso AS! ;p

In 9 months of DE shaving, I never really consistently nailed blade angle until I read this one comment in the middle of a thread about selecting a beginner razor:

"And also remember angle, the razor should be gliding along on the doors or cap depending on the model and tilt the handle in the direction of travel just enough to cause the blade edge to just barely touch the skin like a feather's touch."

Hope this helps, it did wonders for me. If not, there's bound to be someone along who can offer the right advice for you.

Hmmm. I find different razors seem to ask for different angles, and different blades likewise. No doubt different skin tension and beard quality will call for a slight change in angle. I haven't studied both vids, but they are perhaps a lesson in how individual we are when it comes to shaving and everything else!

@Azback - that's an enjoyable quote. I'll have that on my mind tomorrow while I continue to practice on my face. Thanks!

I think they have different angles because they're using different razors.
It's not the handle you should be paying attention to, it's the blade, and every razor put the blade in a different position with respects to your hand.

#1. For me a SE razor requires a different angle than a DE and with a Micromatic CC I use still another blade angle (closer to the face)>
