There is nothing like a Jinhou.
I have a green striated Pelikan M1000 with a medium nib on the way from Richard Binder.

A nice pen! That's a good way to start the month!

My TWSBI 540 also arrived today, and picked up a Waterman Charleston, with the stainless accents from a friend, sadly he didn't have the Waterman's box, but did have the converter. The 540 has a medium nib, and the Waterman still puts down a heavier line. Not sure but I'm guessing the Waterman is also a medium and it's just that Waterman's medium is bigger than TWSBI's medium, who knows. Both are a dream to write with. I'll post pics later tonight if I have the time. Thanks to all that said, "buy a TWSBI"...I love it too ;-)

This must be the day for TWSBI, as my 540 also arrived in today's mail. I inked it up with Private Reserve Black Cherry, and I'm impressed by how well it writes, as well as by the build quality and packaging. I got the fine nib, and it puts down about the same line width as my Waterman Phileas fine point. I think it was well worth the money.
The TWSBI tide continues...
My 540 F arrived in the mail yesterday.
Still trying to decide which ink to use first.

I'm loving the tidal wave of TWSBI's that are landing in this thread!

When I first got married, my father-in-law gave me a set of Montblanc pens that he had used at work. There's a fountain pen, a ballpoint pen and a mechanical pencil. Because I was deploying, I put them in storage and kind of forgot about them. With all the discussion about fountain pens around here these days, I remembered this set and decided that I'd get them out. At the time, he told me that the FP was broken. It turns out that it's the mechanical pencil that's broken (it's missing the pocket clip) but the FP is working fine. I cleaned it out today and popped in a new cartridge. It writes great. There's no paperwork with the set, but they seem to be from the Noblisse range. Here's a photo that I just took.
Any ideas about a converter? I have a number of Waterman converters in my desk--would one of those work?

That's great Chris. Someday your kids could be using that pen, and your razors.

This was a gift. It is a Shaeffer, circa 1985, proudly Made In The USA.

Note the similarity between the MB Noblesse and the Sheafer (Targa, right) from the 80's
Chris.
Both of these pens have a very businesslike look about them. Thin, simple detailing, industrial-looking design and, at least in the case of the MB, surprisingly heavy. I think that Montblanc came out with theirs in the mid-70s, and it has a kind of retro-future industrial look to it. Although I think that MB continues to make nice pens, they are really in the business of making high-end products that showcase the MB snowflake. Pens like the Noblesse and the Shaeffer are made to work. For somebody who is willing to pay for quality that is durable and reliable, not flashy. I think that's a cool aesthetic.
I had one of those. I remember it as a very nice pen. Sadly, that is the only pen I ever lost.
