Polarbeard, totorlekiller, stoop - thank you all for the compliments. This Aust was originally my scary razor being a French point. After the initial learning curve; this is my favorite razor as well. I'd go as far as to say this is RA's best blade design to date as far as comfort and just taking a scary sharp edge. Shave on gents :) I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning !

I was lying awake so I decided to do watch some porn and my first stop was the Ralf Aust Homepage (Yes gentlemen that's a true middle aged razor fanatics definition of porn). It turns out that Herr Aust has released another version of this razor, without forged spine but with silver lined ebony scales. Actually it was a disappointment to me. I find the first version to be more beautiful. Even so I see no reason why the new version shouldn't be as good a shaver. Out of my current production razors it is giving my Böker Arbolito and my new TI "Liberace" a very hard fight for the top position when it comes to shaving capabilities.

I have been a lurker on this thread for awhile. While I don't own a straight to me there is nothing in the shaving world that comes close to the craftsmanship and beauty of the razors you gentlemen display here everyday.

Thank you. Please get yourself a straight razor and join the dark side

Here is my shave of the day an old French Daguillon.
That razor had had better centuries, but it is still functional. If you want to try out a straight, I'd happily donate it to you.
