What's new

What straight did you use today? Now with PICTURES

I don't know if it's vintage, but you can buy that one today it you like to.

Only yesterday I posted on TI and quality. I've pasted my post below. I hope that it isn't pompous. It isn't meant to be and if it is I do apologise.

I know that some have had trouble with quality issues regarding the TI razors. That's a pity. I've never had such issues. I find the six new I've got to be of fantastic quality and the design to be unbeatable. One of them being a La Legende like Dave's razor. My issue with them is the price. My guess is that the complaints somehow might be connected with the price. If you pay that much for a razor you expect it to be totally perfect, any deviation from the subjective definition of perfect is regarded as a flaw. Then again I'm only speculating. If you are considering to buy one I've got one recommendation and that is to take a deep breath and buy exactly the one you want and not the one you feel is in your price range otherwise you'll end up buying another one and then another until you finally bite the bullet and buy the one you should have bought in the first place. At least that's how it was for me. After buying "Liberace" (my name for it) my desire for another one finally died out.

Thank you for taking the time on the QC issues.

So in order to bring out the more incredible straights I chose to give my Joe Edson 19/16 Odin One with blue/purple maple scales the shaving duty today. :biggrin1:

An accident while drying the Ralf Aust has me unable to strop, but thankfully I can still shave. (For the curious: fingers have arteries, albeit small ones, and there is arterial spray if you slice them. I was glad to have an ER nurse in the next room; because of her timely and expert ministrations, no trip to the ER or stitches required.) So, I've finally been using some of my other razors. Today it was the Joseph Elliot. Oldie but goodie.

Thank you. I don't know how it was done. Here's a close up, though:

I'm guessing peening prior to heat treat, and then a taped off etch of that localized area afterwards.

Looks fantastic!

I hadn't checking on this thread in a few days, so just went throught the past 4-5 pages at one stretch......my eyes are bugging out. Nice stuff, guys.

Congratulations that's an achievement . Not to get a close shave but to get one that's both close and comfortable. I hereby name this high quality razor to "The Grim Reaper".

Thank you so much Arne, "The Grim Reaper" it shall henceforth be known as:tongue_sm I imagine it could easily fill that roll if treated with anything but the utmost care and respect LOL:lol:

Black, black, black and I like it. Puma 69 5/8 thumb notch late version. The black marble soap box is from Col. Conk. I've had it for some years and I like the extra flair it adds to the soap. The 30mm extra density no name Chinese two band brush beats the crap out of both my Simpson Chubby brushes. It's been one of my favourite brushes the last two years.

Ow,ow,ow... I bet that made you say a few naughty words! Here's to healing quickly!

Thanks, gents! And yes, there were more than a few expletives, though the very first words out of my mouth were surprisingly mild: "Oh, that's bad!" The cut was very clean (as it should be), so it's healing quickly. Instead of stitches, it's closed with medical superglue (dermabond). Working great so far. The Missus says another three days before I can get it wet. Crossing fingers (on the other hand, of course).

Well if there's an upside that would be it...
Now that it's drawn blood you're going to have to give that blade a name!
