shave #9 with this jnat edge... still no tugging...... MWF 2 passes and a touchup.......

a nice walk in the woods helps me relax and relieves tension....

the fact i'm dragging a shovel and a body should be irrelevant...

Hence I have been honing for newbies. I have honed 4 razors already and 2 more coming in.

I shave to hone, not hone to shave.

Need that with razors and hones with flames and a Harley-lookin' skull or something on the back of a leather jacket.

Today I used my "new" (to me) Heljestrand. A week or so ago, I asked Larry at Whipped Dog about getting my Red Imp honed, and it's a wedge. larry says he doesn't do wedges, but he suggested I contact Bayamontate, so I did. He not only honed my Red Imp for me, when he found out I had this Heljestrand, he insisted I send it to him for honing. The edge on this razor is VERY sharp, and VERY effective. I am now learning that I am still a NEWBIE with a straight razor!

I don't know if you can tell from these pictures or not, but in the first picture, the razor is just as I got it from the antique shop -- the blade was pretty dark. The second picture is what I just took. You can see that Bayamontate has not only honed the razor, he took it upon himself to polish it as well. Great service, and great results.

Shave was not that great, the edge needs more work.
