The other Lord blades you don't know :)

Here they are:

These are authentic Lord blades not fakes as some suspected on other platforms.

Actually there are two Lord brands. Now you are surprised aren't you? :)

This one is made by Zaza Group in Kartal Steel Factory in Turkey since from 1930.

The other Egyptian factory which the rest of the world knows much better is actually violates the brand name rights of the Zaza group. Dont ask me if so why they havent sued them yet. I dont know, I'm not their advocate. I'm just here to inform you.

Zaza group is the oldest blade manufacturer in Turkey and its the 3rd oldest blade manufacturing brand in the world. Established by Paul Zazadze in 1917 in İstanbul, Turkey. Once they were making straight razors and high quality Zaza Aristokrat brand blades. ( I know you want to see how they look like frantically, now I'm on vacation, when I back home I'll add pics of them)

As of today they produce some zaza(no more high end aristokrat), smart and lord brand double edge blades mostly for the middle east market not much for Turkey. (actually nearly no one is aware of them in Turkey). But also produce lots of different branded or private label disposible razor for other markets.

Now I know you are wondering how these Turkish Lord blades are. I have to say that they are not much good. Bad packaging, and quite cheap looking blades. Shave performance is very similar to Egyptian Lords, nearly same which I dont like and find duller than most.

But those old nos platinum plated Zaza Aristokrat blades are awesome. The problem is that they are very inconsistent. In a box there comes some dull feeling ones and there are some awesome really awesome ones. Very sharp and smoothest blades I've ever found on the market. (I used about %80 of brands available today.) That good ones are so good one can buy the whole package only for 1 or 2 of those awesome ones. Of course as they are not known and nos, hard to find and nearly no one in Turkey knows anythin about them.

Here is their website:

You can ask your questions via email current chirman Mr. Zazadze personally replies.

Thanks for the information, excellent work. I used a blade called Lion (not South African), which I suspect were made in Turkey. Other than the lableling on the blade it smells and looks like a Derby blade.

You are welcome, I don't know about Lions maybe zaza group may also be manufacturing those.

Copyright laws often don't apply across International Borders.

Copyright Law is something that is set in each individual country, thus why it was legal a few years ago for a Russian company to buy up US cds, rip the music off of them, and resell the individual tracks online for crazy prices (something like $1 or $2 for the entire CD). What they were doing greatly upset the US record companies, but was not illegal by the laws of Russia. Thus the US record companies had no ground on which to file a complaint. Russia did eventually cave to their pressure, and change their laws however.

I see. Thank you for the clarification.

Yes and no.

Copyright laws are domestic laws and vary in application and enforcement considerably BUT there are a range of international treaties in respect of intellectual property more broadly. These again vary in enforcability and not every country has signed up. If interested check out the WIPO site here.

What we are talking about with the name is also more about trademarks than copyright too. Registering trademarks internationally is a time consuming and expensive process. You also cannot trademark common terms so nobody could own the name 'Lord' per se, what they would have to trademark is the representation of that with associated graphics etc and then take injunctive action in the other jurisdiction against anybody your Lord in a similar looking way. You also have to register trademarks per class of item - it becomes a real mess and many people don't bother, partly because the countries where the bootlegging takes place are not signatories to international treaties covering this.

There you go - come to B&B for loads of useless information!

Hello all.

This post will not be about Lord. I am no less surprised as most of you are to hear about two Lords out there. :)

I have decided to post few more photos of the Zaza group products that I recently purchased in our local store.

The funny thing about those is that they are marketed by a different name (a simple sticker placed on every box) and different producer. Most of you should be aware of the ASR Company - makers of the mighty Personna. Of course, this sticker is utter BS as ZAZA blades are inside.

The blades themselves are rubbish too. I strongly assume they are counterfeit.
