Boar-bristle tooth brushes

A month or more ago, I picked up a boar-bristle tooth brush with a replaceable head from a local health-food store. Anyone a fan of these, or is there something to watch out for here?

Interested in this. I've seen them online, but while I like my boar on my face, not sure how I'd feel about it in it.

I have never tried one but make sure the bristles are SOFT and brush thoroughly but gently. I have seen so much gum damage and gingival recession from hard bristled brushes.

Actually, I have problems with my gums, but I wanted to try these anyway. At first, the bristles were quite stiff, so I went gently. Then, sort of like a shaving brush, they are "broken-in," becoming quite soft. I switched heads (the bristles are sold in relatively inexpensive three-packs) after about six or seven weeks of use. One thing that differs from nylon bristles is that these do stain more: mine having become grey from the clay included in an "organic" toothpaste designed for gum tissue. But the brush does makes me aware of how much plastic I have otherwise been introducing into my mouth. My gum specialist recommends small toothbrushes for gum problems; but these are on larger side. Rather hard to find small brushes here, just child-sized in this regard.
