First shave with the new Muhle R41....awesome!

So today was my first (half) shave with the Muhle R41. I lathered up (TOBS Avocado) and shaved half of my face with my custom merkur 38c and the other half with the Muhle. Two passes, WTG and ATG and the Muhle left me with a beautiful BBS shave while the Merkur left me with a DFS. Tomorrow I will switch and see if the results are similar. I am more than impressed with the Muhle.

On a side note what would be my best option if I wanted the R41 to have a longer handle. An extra 3/4 of an inch or so would be great and I remember reading that Muhle heads are interchangeable. I think I may have gotten used to using my Merkur (about 4 oz. with a wide malachite handle).

Yep Bob's are very nice handles, they are heavier than standard and thicker.

Well, today was test #2, I switched which half of my face each razor shaved and the results were the same. The Muhle definitely gave me a closer shave. The angle of attack is really wide, making it easier to shave. The Merkur 38C has a narrow "sweet spot" where it can provide a nice close shave whereas the Muhle seems to have another 10-15 degrees of shaving angle. It even shaves when nearly perpendicular to the face. At this point I almost feel like getting a second R41 as a backup in case they discontinue it (I know it's new but just in case). I couldn't be happier.

Trust me, you're not alone with this feeling. I think most of us that love this razor have purchased at least one back up (I have four).

But forget about trying to pull a back up off the BST here, KM Instructor has an implant in his head that alerts him when one gets posted for sale and he snaps them up within minutes.
