Congrats! I'm sure you'll get some great shaves with your flare-tip. They are wonderful razors!
Well, I did it. I couldn't wait until the morning.
I prepped my face with some warm water, and used up the sample of EJ's shave cream that the gents at WCS sent me with my Colonel earlier this month. (Nice shave cream by the way...lathers nice but smells a bit musty afterwards...6 out of 10.)
I took my Astra SP out of my 34C HD that had 1 shave on it already, and loaded er' into the Z1. It was so light in comparison to my Merkur. I figured this thing would be a whiz. I was correct...sort of. The angle in which the blade sat, while gliding through the lather, felt like this razor was made for my face. I found my self thinking "Holy, I could easily use this everyday".
...then I learned a valuable lesson.
Don't take for granted a lighter razor around your neck. I guess in my mind, I figured since I had been using an HD, and was mastering not to use any pressure....I could be a little more aggressive. Well, I couldn't. After 1 pass WTG on my neck....the bumps started to form.(Ouch.) I didn't even dare take a chance with a XTG like I usually do. I guess I learned a 2nd lesson as well. I might still be applying too much pressure when using my Merkur.
End result. My face was really smooth (even without a XTG/ATG pass.) I will likely stick to using the HD for an everyday shave, but I won't hesitate to bust out the Z1 on a possible weekend shave or special occasion. I really really like this razor boys. Nay....Love this razor. Feels great in my hand, glides along my face....and even taught me to take my time and respect the tool being used.
If you don't own a Super speed, I would not hesitate to recommend to pick on up and try it out. I lucked out and got mine in superb condition for $14 Cdn.

Congrats ,nice razor, I have also purchased one off ebay for $15 shipped.
That is a nice looking razor. I wish I could find one for my birthyear (1943), but it would be a long search I think.

You have the exact same birth razor as I need. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find one yet. Congrats and hope you have many good shaves with it.
