Default Any NYC newbies need a brush? FREE!

For fifteen years I've shaved with shaving oil, and find that I still prefer oil to shaving soaps, or an oil/soap combo. Therefore.....

It would be my pleasure to donate a fine, soft, floppy silvertip brush to a newbie. It's been used half a dozen times, max — just long enough to rid it of new badger brush funk!

I'd really like to give this brush to someone who wants a good brush, but who may not have the bucks for one right now. If we can meet somewhere in Manhattan, it's yours.

    PM me. Thanks!

We are now at four hours and counting. I find it unbelievable that you can't give away a silvertip. I'd take it but I don't qualify. Does this say that we are here because we are not all there?

    Default does upstate qualify?

    Hello,

well, i've been reading this and the straightrazor forum for many hours now - and I think I'm ready to take the plunge. getting a shave-ready razor, now looking for the rest - brush, strop, may be a special soap. I'm somewhat poor student and i'm trying to keep costs as low as i can, but i think i've gotten addicted already...

so, i'm not sure i can go to manhattan before a month or two (it's somewhat expensive to get there although i have friends i visit every now and then), but if anyone as generous as the OP has a good brush they are intending to donate, I would be happy to send sth like $10 to cover postage. however i think more importantly when I buy my next badger brush (hopefully in few months) I will mail this one to somebody who needs and needs(whatever this means for a nonessential product) it.

looking forward to learn from everybody and hopefully avoid the ER.

Gentlemen, I give you papasmurf! He's not a newbie, but he's offered to take this burdensome brush off my hands. Talk about selfless deeds!

Alas, no. You should ask our resident saint, papasmurf (a.k.a. "Father Teresa") if he'd mind crawling to Kansas on bare knees and hand-delivering the brush to your door. Don't be surprised if he says yes! I'm not exaggerating when I say that papsmurf is all about charitable works.

Gugi, the brush is an ebony-handled B&B Standard Silvertip that I bought from this site some months ago. I'm thinking I'd like to give it to someone who's played with traditional shaving long enough to know that they enjoy it. No offense to you, sir.

I, myself, went into all this pretty recklessly. A week after discovering Badger and Blade, I went beserk. In addition to this beautiful brush, I bought a razor, various shaving creams, and a cabinet full of skin-care products. It was all a blind leap.

In retrospect, I should have bought a cheap brush and one tube of cream from the corner store, just to see if I liked using a brush and cream. What I discovered is that I still prefer shaving oil, smeared on by hand.

I'm totally committed to my Slant and my Derby blades. That was my big conversion.

    Man, I do babble on, don't I?

I think i'm in exactly this stage :)

Actually when I first started shaving a bunch of years ago I liked to use brush and the shaving soap of my grandpa (that was back in eastern europe). Not sure when and why exactly i stopped and i think i'll be crucified if i confess what i used up to two days ago... I'm pretty sure I'll try to get a badger brush since I know what the regular boar ones feel like.
they all seem kindof expensive thouh - even the cheapest 35 one comes to almost 50 when added tax&shipping.

i don't want to hijack this thread though. and i'll post my questions in more appropriate place.

    Hey brooks,
I'm a newbie and in NYC, is this brush still available. I realize it's been a year plus. PM me if it is and we can arrange a pick up.

m0nk, the brush found a new home last summer. Sorry.

Here's hoping that another brush materializes for you soon!
