Default The couch potato days are over

Work related stress, too little time for myself, bad eating habits and too much beer have had a bad effect on my weight, my blood pressure and my general well-being. Tomorrow, this new bike will get me moving again:

I made that decision about three years ago. You won't regret it. I went from only being able to ride the bike a few miles to running a marathon this fall.

I wanted the bike for everyday riding and as a travel bike. This one got excellent reviews
and a recommendation from my brother who works as a bicycle mechanic.
But the pricetag on that thing means that I'll have to cut down on razor-related purchases. :-(

It'll be worth it. I made the same decision in December of 2008 and I feel as if I've turned the clock back by several years if not a decade.

Great decision. Decided to join the YMCA in January and feel absolutley fantastic. 30lbs lighter. Running 6 miles. Plus lifting weights has me looking better, feeling better and loving life again. Not to mention my libido has improved alot too ;). Good luck to you and enjoy yourself!!

Nice bike, spending that much should help to motivate you when you look and see it standing there unused.

    Well done.

I made that decision in February. I gained 80 lbs after I quit smoking two years ago and the doctor wanted to put me on blood pressure medicine. I am down 45 lbs, feel great and look forward to exercise now. My advice is write out a schedule for the first month and stick with it whether you want to go for a ride or not. After that, it should be ingrained as a habit. Good luck.

Just curious, did you get the bike? How do you like it?

Good for you! I left the sofa 13 years ago. Exercise has kept me sane and improved my health.

There was a major hiccup with the delivery, but the bike finally arrived some days ago.
Today I went on my first 30 km trip along the Main river and enjoyed it tremendously. The bike seems to want to go fast, faster than I can go at the moment *g*.
Nevertheless, I finished the trip with a 21 km/h (13 mph) average (don't laugh, I just started over after many years).
    I feel great!
