The last week or so I've been using my slant with a feather and getting comfortable with that. It's been noted before, and I have to agree, that the best shave is on the second day with the Feather...one my best ever.
Since I can never do the same thing for very long, I picked up a box out of the stack that I've received as samples or PIF. Pulled out a DR Harris with EJ head and popped in a Voskhod. First pass seemed awful...and I almost quit there and then, but persisted with my usual 3 passes and touch up. Got better with each pass but still more pulling than I like. I was, however, amazed at the end result. No weepers. No irritation and the alum block had almost no sting, and the Floid aftershave was it's usual great stuff. End result was between a DFS and BBS. Maybe it was because I was subconsciously extra diligent about pressure etc.after that first pass, but it's just surprising that such an unsatisfactory experience could yield such a good shave in the end.
