Laphroaig 1/4 cask is the regular drinker, they discontinued the 10 year old in Canada a few years ago. Travelling to NYC this week and it is on my buy as soon as you hit liquor heaven list. Love the prices in the States.

Anyone else in FOL? owning 1sq inch of the Island we may be neighbours !

Of course, Plot 193419, and I feel your pain as a Canadian.

I just picked up some 18yr from Texas for a very reasonable price compared to Canada.

For me the big difference is that after two or three drams I still like the Airigh but the Oogie has worn me out--I only drink the latter if I need a single nightcap. For longer conversations with good friends or long listening sessions (musician here), the Airigh tastes great dram after dram.
It looks like this one has taken the place of the Airigh in the Ardbeg line up. It's certainly getting a lot of love.

A friend brought me a Corry a couple-three months ago. A little sweeter than the Airigh, maybe? Soo, so good. Too bad it's 11 AM...

This is such a difficult topic to reply to. Currently I've been enjoying HP 15, highly underrated and goes down so easy. Tomorrow I pick up three bottles of Laphroaig 18 from UPS, picked them up for <$60/bottle!!!

I prefer the Islay's but my collection ranges across all the regions.

Springbank 10 from Campbelltown was in regular rotation for awhile as was Caol Ila. Ugh, this thread is going to send me to my bar and open some bottles.

I just finished a bottle of the Laphoaig 18, it was a fun one to have, i hope you enjoy them!

I just tasted the Caol Ila yesterday, and it was simply phenomenal, along the same lines as the Ardbeg 10.

Sounds like Springbank is something to look into, how does it fair?

I'll do some rigorous A/B testing tonight, Josh :)

I also like Caol Ila--it was our treat at our partners' night out six months ago or so at The Library here in Seoul. I find it a lot milder than the Ardbeg/Laphroaig/Lagavulin/Bruichladdich axis, myself, but terrific.

It's definitely not a starter whisky! It's strong, similar to an Islay since the regions are so close. It's non chill filtered and I believe there is no caramel added also. I find it refreshing and a great drink after a long, tough, stressful day at the office or for sharing with someone you care for. I shared my first dram with my father and it was outstanding.

The Springbank range is fairly expensive. I believe the 10 y/o was around $60/bottle. The Madeira wood expression is supposed to be a cracker! The next Campbelltown I try will be either the Hazelburn or a Longrow.

Everyday drinking - Glenlivet 12 or Macallan 12. If I'm in the mood for something sweet - Laphroaig, Talisker, or Skapa. If I get a good bonus check - King Louis or MC 29!

They are all good. For me Talisker.

Or better, Michter's rye plus Carpano Vermoth, some bitters, and cherries for the best Manattan there is.

I'm rather partial to The Balvenie 17 y.o. Madiera cask, but there aren't really very many that I turn up my nose at.

Got a bottle of Talisker from a good friend for my 31st on Thursday. He actually went through my site to find what sort of scotch I would probably like best and he landed bang on the money. I'd almost forgotten just how much I love that stuff, next one on the list to acquire is a JW Gold (yes i know, this is the single malt thread)
