    Default Wifes New 9mm

Going to give this to my wife as an anniversary present, a Bersa Thunder 9mm HC. It's the one she wanted, but she isn't expecting it until Christmas. Just picked it up today from my FFL, who also happens to own an indoor range. I felt it was my duty as a good husband to make sure the weapon operated properly. This was the result after 15 rounds straight from the box at 25 ft. Can you guess which shots were the first two?

Nice! So how does it shoot compared to a Glock or a Beretta 92?

Can't speak for a Glock, but it shot very well compared to my Beretta. The action was stiff feeling but consistent. I'm told after a few hundred rounds it gets a lot smoother. I'm impressed with it, especially for less than $400.00 new. I prefer my 92, but the Bersa is a very comfortable gun to shoot. The clip holds 17 rounds +1, so you could really go through some ammo in no time. Several of the 1911 competition shooters were present when I took it for a spin, they all seemed pretty impressed, mostly by the quality for cost.

How's your wife doing with this gun?

I've contemplated picking up a Bersa, but frankly I have too many good 9mm's in my safe already.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.

Does that Bersa have the fixed barrel like their little .380?

I shot one of the .380's and due to that fixed barrel - it was a freaking tack driver.

+1 to the question above... How is the wife doing with it?
Is the action light enough for her to cycle without an issue?

    Thanks

Not a fixed barrel, but very accurate. She loves it. She has put about 1500 rounds through it, had one FTE, yesterday. It was a cartridge problem, it had a flattened area on the rim. She usually only loads 10 rounds in her clips, with 17, her arms start to get tired after 4 or 5 clips.

Sorry to revive a thread from a few months ago, but I'm considering this exact pistol. Now that you've had it a bit, what do you think of it? (+ & -)

nice gun, but with that kind of shooting you better be nice to your wife ;)
As long as your going to be thinking anyway, think big.

I love it, she loves it, it's had over 2000 rounds through it now, still just the one FTE. +'s are cost, fit and feel in my hand as well as my wifes, high capacity for a smaller framed full sized pistol, shoots very accurate, consistent trigger pull, easy to clean and the finish seems to be holding up fine. The only negatives I can find so far is that there aren't many options to customize, you won't impress anyone on a gun thread by owning one, and it was a bit stiff feeling until 100 rounds or so had been fired through it. My wife and I are recreational shooters, not tactical combat or competition shooters so take my opinion for what it's worth. We generally shoot at an indoor range, at paper targets, at 30 feet, and we can both group 10 shots in a 6 inch circle with this gun. So far, I'm having a hard time admitting it has performed as well as my Beretta 92. Time will tell, hope this helps you.

For the money, Bersas do well.

I wouldn't take one over a Glock or other major brand, but for general shooting and etc they do fine.
