Yea, it is a combined package. I am looking forward to it, even if I have to lap the hone. I have a powered lapping option for small hones now :p The pictures you sent me are very nice.

Any place or anyone selling with cheap international shipping options (like usps first class)?? Priority shipping about 30$.

I found here but i think they don't have all grits. http://www.workshopheaven.com/tools/...harpening.html
If it's enough i want to buy 12, 5, 3 and 1 micron. My only stone is Naniwa 12000.

Hi Seraphim, victim here and kanayama still on the way :)
    Thanks.

Check the vendor section for Rickboone1 post on lapping films. I bought 2 packs from him recently and International shipping was very reasonable.

Cheers all, I've just read this thread and I'm on the lookout for some films now...I shot an email to Rickboone1 as that seems pretty good for a starter.
Is there anything lost on not getting the 0.3 ? as it's not offered on his post.

I have never tried the 0.3 (lack of Mojo) but have read the edges can be a bit harsh.
Dont forget to finish with some pico, paco or some other paper.

Film is as easy to use as it gets and great edges-lack of Mojo and all

You're not going to miss a thing not getting the .03 um paper. Finish with the 1 then put some paper under and do like 40 more laps and it should be all good. Films can give a very nice edge to shave with. If you want more after that use a pasted strop.

CrOx on balsa is a very useful step after the 1um film. It quickly puts a sinister edge on a straight.

Even better is a layer or two of wet paper under the 1um for your final laps.

    Bevel set on naniwa 1k
    Pink film
    then green film
    green film with paper cushion
    Cerium oxide strop in linen.
    leather stropping

Best shave of my life with straights, two passes NO atg pass.

Excellent. I like films edges, prefer JNAT ones.

Really? I don't mind films but to say the are "far superior" to a coticule edge is a bit of a stretch imo. I know you have been honing for a while but it does surprise me that you are having trouble with your coticules after all this time.

I own 13 coticules , some are easier to use than others. I do think some are better than others like any other natural stone...Its an ongoing debate...

The post I made was referring to my new coticules I purchased in an antique store for 10$. I was testing them and was getting frustrated with the results. My beard likes very sharp edges, I had to learn to shave when I was 12 when my beard came in all over my face.
When I used to use the mach III back in the day I had to change cartridges daily, that's why I was fed up and went to w et shaving.

I have had razors honed on coticules sent to me and to me they weren't keen enough for an easy shave.
Others are great and did fine...

I do believe the cerium oxide helped too.

I agree, film edges are good, they lack a little smoothness for me.

Sure, I can sell you some mojo, lemon, garlic and secret spices

I agree with coticule edges not being keen enough for me, using oil helps a bit or before oil I used CBN spray.

To me a nice JNAT edge has both smoothness and keenness.
