What's new

Howdy

I've been lurking for a few days & I finally decided to register. Y'all have a fantastic site here & the wealth of info is invaluable. I've been shaving DE pretty much exclusively for a few years now. My first razor was actually a "cheaper" plastic handled newer Gillette DE my Grandfather bought me. Anyway, I've recently started to want to delve deeper into it so I got my Grandfather's '69 Super Speed & I have a '62 Slim Adjustable on order. After trying a couple different blades I have some Astra Superior Platinum blades heading my way. My next project is getting a higher quality brush than I currently use & trying some different soaps. I know 4 people (including my girlfriend) who have switched to DE's & I'm working on a few more. I look forward to learning & contributing at some point.

Thanks guys. Sure, the one I have is boar but I got it from Wal-Mart so I'm under no delusions about its quality. The array of brushes I've seen that y'all have on here is staggering. That & soap may be my weak link at the moment.

This post may help you choose a brush. http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Choosing_your_first_shaving_brush

FYI, I have tried horse hair brushes, and like my Semogue boars better. I've also used a Vulfix 404 blended brush and like pure boar better. The Vulfix is a decent brush, but for the same price, Semogue boars are much better. I do have an assortment of badger brushes, all of them best badger or better. Pricey! I do like my wee scot, though it is more of a specialty brush or a curiosity. Good luck with your choice!

Soap and cream together will make a wicked super lather! Lots to read about them also! http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Lather_Products
