Default First safety razor shave with more than a day's growth.

Ever since I got into wet shaving I have shaved every day, usually after work in the evening. I usually couldn't wait to try a new razor, or soap, so I have never really had any growth to speak of. I do not have a heavy beard anyway. Well, I received my blade sampler the other day and I decided to go with Trumper's Rose soap and my Jagger DE89 with a (gulp) Feather!!! blade. My brush is a silvertip badger and I shaved right out of the shower - no hot rag to face, just lathered right up. Well I did a three-pass with touch-up and I was a little nervous at first because of what I have read about Feather blades, but I relaxed as I completed the first pass with no bloodshed. I did nick myself a couple times, but nothing major. The shave was not BBS, but a DFS. My next shave will be TOBS, everything else the same. The Feathers do not intimidate me anymore. FWIW, the EJ came with Derby blades, and I had not been overly excited about the razor, but it seems to have been the blade. The Feather today was very smooth in the EJ.

Just thought I'd report my findings.

The EJ89(L) and a Feather blade is a match made in heaven. The EJ is a fairly mild shaver and definitely benefits from the sharper blades. And as you have found out to your benefit, the Feather blade is not the fearsome blade it is made out to be.

Here's the followup. Tonight: shower, lather up wet face with TOBS Rose and a three pass w/ touchup. BBS, I'll tell you. Well, does a little stubble right beside the corner of my lip disqualify it for a BBS shave? Anyway, I think the Taylor's is creamier and slicker than the Trumper's and the EJ 89L with a Feather in it is still a very comfortable shaver. Cold rinse, Nivea Sensitive balm and CVS's Aqua Velva clone finished it off. One nick, but it was a technique error - slid the razor sideways a little by mistake. I really like this stuff!

I used feathers in my Merkur 34C for a year before I started lurking here and in some of the other shaving shaving forums before I knew I was supposed to be afraid of them.

I love the Feather and EJ combination. Congrats!

Have tried the Feather too, but find on my skin I get too much irritation. Sharks stainless thats the way to go for me IMHO.

I had a similar experience when I started using my EJ89 w/Derby blades, you have me curious to try Feather blades. Thanks for the report!
