    Default Simpson Rover

WCS just got their shipment of the new/old Simpson Rover. Anyone else here going to get one? That may be the silliest question ever asked on B&B.

A portion of the sale price will be donated to the Susan Komen Foundation.

    Rover in Best?
Portion of proceeds to Susan G. Komen?
    Am I getting this brush?

    You bet I am.

Nicely done John at WCS for making these brushes available and for remembering our friend, Sue.
    Cheers,

    Bob

saving my penny (yes, PENNY) for the Thater 2band and whatever Jim is teasing us with at the Nib.

What is the big difference between this and say....my Colonel? Besides being a Limited Edition and different handle.

A much shorter handle, maybe a denser knot? When mine comes, I'll compare it to my other Simpson Bests of similar diameter (don't have a Colonel)

Not to be a party popper, but I just can't stomach that price. It's more than twice the nearly equally spec'd Colonel X2L, in the name of "LE".

Especially since the Eagle in best was what? Around $100? Pretty sure mine has a bigger knot (23-24mm) and is one of the most densely stuffed brushes I have. I'll agree here that the price seems a bit steep for a 22mm knotted brush, but I'm sure those that order will be happy with it. To each their own.

I was hoping for something that would be a step above the Berkeley/Colonel/Commodore, maybe around ~$75-$100. I would have seriously considered it for that price, but it's a bit over my head now...

I am glad Vulfix-Simpson made these brushes. I am not so glad that they are Limited Edition brushes. I really can't stand all of the Limited Edition brushes being made nowadays. I don't mind something that is naturally rare, like a butterscotch, Nimmer Mill-made Simpson shaving brush or a vintage Sheffield or Solingen straight razor. However, I do not like items that are artificially made rare, like limited edition stuff. That said, these brushes look fantastic, and the cause is great. Anyone who gets one is sure to be pleased that they are getting a quality brush while aiding a worthy cause. Nice job, John! I'll look forward to reading the impressions of those who buy these brushes.

Are they really a Limited Edition? I know John at WCS says that they are only available from him. But The Superior Shave says on their website they are expecting some in their next shipment of Simpson brushes.

That is a good question. It might be that it is a Limited Edition brush distributed amongst a few retailers. I might shoot an email to Mark to ask him what is up. I would be much happier if it did not end up as Limited Edition brush. That said, it is just a brush and not the end of the world. I still am eager to read posts on this brush once people get them delivered.

Cool brush. I have to say, a bespoke Eagle G3 in Best is looking pretty good right now, and about the same price!

edit: Just noticed, the most densely stuffed of the line, the Chubby 1 in Best, has a 23mm x 47mm knot and weighs in at $125.
