The backpack/cool leather bag dilemma

Here is my persistent dilemma- I travel a lot for work and often have to carry a lot of documents. I am using a tumi backpack- but it's still a backpack. Cool leather shoulder bag is hard on suits (all of which are rather expensive) and uncomfortable

Any ideas ?

Carry a briefcase! "Shoulder bags" are just too much like girls' handbags, sorry. Even a backpack is better.

In a suit often, get a nylon briefcase if a hard case won't do. Hand carry it, old school style. Suits and bags don't generally mix well.

Go for a briefcase. They can be had at all price ranges, sizes and materials.

To pre-empt the forthcoming double-w00t suggestions, Saddleback is not really `carry-on` material. If you fly a lot and want or need a nylon version, check out Red Oxx ... high quality made in the Good Old US of A.

Plenty of leather options out there too. Well, a `thin` Saddleback briefcase might be fine for carry-on.

You are not seriously proposing a backpack with a suit for flying?
