There is no reason why these should not work. If they work for you, that is probably enough but since you are new to wet shaving, you may want to try other brands as well.

The Gillette yellows are one of my favorites.

Gillette Yellows have moved up in my ranking. Challenging the mighty Feather for champion. The Yellow has given me (4) BBS LONG LASTING shaves. I'm looking to actually trade some of my Feathers straight up for Yellows. PM me if interested.

I have tried a lot of blades. The Gillette Yellows are in my top 4 of all time. The other top 4 are Gillette Swedes, Super Iridium, and Perma-Sharps. The Swedes and Iridiums are of course no longer available so my top 2 blades are Gillette Yellows Perma-Sharps. (I have yet to try Med Preps but expect them to be equally as good).

Yellows were good, the Russian 7'oclock Super Platinum work best for me though...

How do these compare to the Gillette Super Platinum? I like the smoothness of the Platinum but if they were just a tad more sharper they'd be perfect for me.

I'm not a fan of the Yellows nor the Permasharp (Indian Green) blades. I like the rest of the Gillette 7 O'clock line up.

The yellows were my favorite until recently replaced by the blues (Super Platinum). Both are great. For me the blues are a little smoother, more forgiving.

But I tried a bunch of blades and the Russian blues and yellows are at the top of my list.

I like the Gillette 7 o'clock Yellows, they remind me somewhat of the Astra SPs ( another gillette product ).
