    Default Did something change?

I am not quite even sure what to ask, as I do not understand how websites work that well, but for quite some time I have been able to check B&B from work, but starting a couple of months ago, I cannot open the site from work. The site opens then just as quickly disappears, and gives me the dreaded white-typed screen of death....
At work I log in through a somewhat controlled network, but until perhaps February(?) not sure...I had no problems. Don't know if its something to do with the cookies, javascripts, or magical gnomes, I have no idea.
I can go to SMF no problem still, along with various archery websites I visit, but I have no idea what the issue is. It isn't my computer, apparently, as I can log in from home, but cannot log in from any computer on the network that I have tried.
Somebody who can understand my rambling perhaps help?

I think it's a sign that you don't own enough shaving products.

Seriously, I have no idea. Hopefully someone here can solve the problem.

Some network administrators block anything associated with Bulletin Board type messaging capabilities.

This is a VB board, SMF is a php board.... might be your admin blocks VB and not PHP? I am not sure though.... Nick would be the guy to ask.

    John,

Since you get the same problem on multiple computers at your work, it's obviously a network (or company wide computer usage protocol) issue, and not something easily fixed. My guess, would be, based on the behavior you've described, that as Joel mentioned, your company might block vB pages. It's not uncommon for companies to block internet forums as they can be seen as an impediment to productivity (lord knows why ). It is a little bizarre that vB would be blocked and not phpBB, but that could just as easily be a result of lazy software writers.

Is there any error message that you receive while at work, or is it just a blank page?

Also, when you have a minute, go to:

    http://badgerandblade.com/newserver.html

on a computer at work and tell me what you see.

THANK GOD ! VB aint blocked at our place and our place is the most secured out there..Id think...pfffew... luckily its not...

What you could do is run a VPN client on your PC at home and then at work you could remote access that VPN and then check B&B at work. (that is if you have software install privs ?)

Asking admins to open a port.. no way you dont want to atract any attention to you. I used newsbin for fun one day.. just riding on the port 23 which we use to do telnet sessions. I started d/ling but offcourse our MRTG graphs catch anything
so they did found out about my 4GB data being pumped on a friday night.

The manager just said "I dont know what you were doing Rene! "
but we pay extra for a certain amount of GB's I never told him what happened and he never asked specific about it..got the coolest manager here..

I'm not at work this weekend (thank goodness!)
but I will get a better read of the message the network gives me next time. Perhaps that is what happened, although the site wasn't blocked at all for the longest time, and now it is. They also blocked all the webmail sites, like hotmail, yahoo, and AOL as well.
    Bummer.

    Well,
I'm not quite sure what happened, for so long,
but B&B is now working again on my work comps.
Go figure...maybe they just wanted me to stress for a week or two....
    thanks for the help guys

Maybe the administrators saw it and liked it. If they did, I'd expect them to join up anyday now.
