Default Please allow me to introduce myself.

    Dear Sirs

After reading a bit on this forum, and taking the leap into shaving with a DE razor for the first time I feel it is time to introduce myself properly.

My name is Alexander and I am a student living in Copenhagen, Denmark. I am very much looking forward to making your aquaintance and, in time, being able to contribute to this wonderful forum.

I have just finished my second shave with my new Edwin Jagger DE87 razor and I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. My first shave was, admittedly, a bit harsh but the second was significantly smoother - not as the proverbial baby's behind but still quite a bit better than my previous shaver, the Wilkinson Sword Quattro.

The best part is the ritual of the shave, though. Taking the time to prepare properly and taking the act of shaving seriously has so far been the most significant change. I cannot wait until I have acquired a bit more skill.

I am enclosing a photo of my shaving kit - it is modest and contain several second-hand items, but it is a pleasure to use and I suspect it will give me a decent start.

    Sincerely yours

    Alexander

    Welcome to the forum.

Your gear should work fine. BTW, lots of us actually enjoy and seek out vintage gear. Even better if it's from a family member.

One thing I find incredible... Copenhagen was (is?) a merchandise hub at one time, and you can't find a brush there?

Thank you everyone for the kind welcome.

I have been able to find brushes, unfortunately they are exceedingly pricey. Of the three I have manged to find in retail stores the cheapest is what amounts to $150 - the most expensive one costs about $420. That is unfortunately out of my price range and the prices from UK retailers are infinitely more competitive.

Wow! Great looking kit for a newbie, Alexander. Welcome from another new one. I'm anxious to hear about how you like your DE87 after a few more shaves.

Are you a Danish student living in Copenhagen, or are you from somewhere else and living in Copenhagen? And what are you studying? Besides shaving.

    Hi Larry

Yes, I am a Danish student living in Copenhagen. I am a graduate student in English at the University of Copenhagen. My minor is Japanese.

So far I am very pleased with the DE87 - the aestethics are wonderful and it is solidly built with great balance. I have nothing except the cartridge-based razors to compare it to, but I am confident that I will be able to get proper shaves with the EJ. I am using a Wilkinson Sword blade at the moment, but I am looking forward to experimenting with others.
