    Default Newbie Update

    I thought I would give an update after almost 4 weeks of wet shaving.

    Merkur HD-34C
    Merker long handle-23C
    Merkur, Derby and Feather blades
    Colonel Conk's amber and almond soap
    Trumpers rose shave cream
    Vulfix badger brush
    Aqua Velva
    Dominica Bay Rum
    Pinaud-Clubman original aftershave
    Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel
    Corn Huskers lotion

    I think I've compiled a decent shaving arsenal. So far, I like both razors and all the products I bought very much. I shaved with a feather blade last night for the first time and it gave me the closest and smoothest wet shave I've had so far. I have a fairly heavy beard and the feather blade cut through it quickly and smoothly with zero irritation or razor burn. It is important to try various blades as they all shave differently. I'll give another update soon.

    Welcome to the B&B forum, John! Of those three blades, the Feather would certainly be my choice, as well. Very sharp, which is what you need with a heavy beard.

    You don't mention what you do for prep. If you haven't done so yet, I suggest you look at "Kyle's stickys" here and also here.
