Default My Parker 89R Razor ...been pretty pleased!

I have been DE shaving for about 2-1/2 yrs and started because of the ever escaleting high price for fusion blades and what I felt was limited choice as a consumer when it came to mens shaving, that is until I researched DE shaving and all the options with blade choices to the actual DE razors that are available. My choice when I started was a Parker 89R. The reason at that time was basically it was under $30 shipped and I did not want to spend a great deal of money until I knew DE shaving was for me. Well, I am still DE shaving and have not up graded to any other DE razor at this time. The 89R has worked very well, it gives me a very smooth shave but it might seem aggressive to others. I have considered getting an EJ89L, however they appear to have similar shaving heads and I am not sure if I would experience anymore benefit in terms of a better shave with this razor. I have also considered getting a Merkur 37C slant in hopes of a closer shave or the Merkur adjustable progress. Probably wait till late fall if I make a purchase just because it is hot and dry here in North Texas and the AC bill demands a great deal of attention. My Parker 89R has a nice finish and the blade gap I have learned can be adjusted some what for aggressive or mild depending on how much I tighten down the razor head when I twist it on. I enjoy having the opportunity to select a different blade when I feel the need which before DE shaving I really had no freedom to choose. A few blades that have stood out have been the Shark Super Chrome (maybe my favorite), Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellows, Super Iridiums and Derby Extra. I loaded the razor with the Personna Platinum Reds this week. I have had one shave and have been pleased will no more after the second and third shave. I know there are alot of great razors out there for people to purchase and I just wanted to give my limited experience with the one I chose when I first started shaving. I have attached a photo of my little shaving items ... its not much compared to many here, but it does not mean I have not had to fight the urge to increase my shaving collection. I hope everyone has a great weekend with great shaves to boot.

I just recently got the 97r from Parker in the mail. So far only one shave with it and I think its great. The shave I got with it was pretty good used the shark super chromes that came with it. Have used those blades before in a NEW with good results as well. I think the next parker I buy will be the 89r I like the handle.

I have been very pleased with my Parker and I think they did a very good job with the finish on this razor as it has no pitting and I have dropped it twice on pretty rough surface and it still looks and shaves great. In regards to getting an 89R I would say yes, but also look at the new 94R. Super Safety Razors has it on sale for $28 bucks and free shipping. The 89R is $27 with free shipping and both are made of brass frame with a nickel plate. I will admit though the more I read on this forum about the EJ89 it has me really wondering if I would see an improved shaving experience from what the Parker gives me. I will probably put it on my shopping list along with the Merkur 37C slant and just forget about purchasing the Merkur Adjustable Progress for right now. Thanks for responding to my post I do appreciate it.
