Hello,
I heard some shaving soaps and sticks are having an expiry date.
After that date is it hygienically bad for the skin?
Will there be a lathering problem?
How do you feel about this?

There are folks here that routinely use soaps that are 30-40+ years old with no ill effects. I wouldn't worry about it.

Not a huge soap user but I've used lots of creams way past their expiration date with absolutely no issues.
I thought I remember hearing something about European cosmetic products requiring expiration dates even though they are somewhat meaningless. Don't know if it's true or not but they seem relatively meaningless when it comes to shave supplies.
soap should never expire
As long as your going to be thinking anyway, think big.
About the only thing that will happen is that the scent may mellow or disappear all together.
If somethings important you'll find a way, if not you'll find an excuse.
If I was a manufacturer, I'd put an expiry date on all my soaps. £££££££££££![]()
Is it an "Exp" date or a "Best if used by" date?
Yardley still rocks.

Up to a point, soap just gets better and better. The excess oils (superfat) may eventually go rancid, but you'll see and smell the change in the soap - small yellow dots and a not-so-fresh smell are the signs - but storing it correctly diminishes that problem.
I may well expire before some of my soaps.

Doug

+1 for some really nice vintage soaps...never had an issue with soaps expiring...have had cream's separate or go bad but never a soap puck...
