Best way to clean soap scum/hard water buildup from off Merkur Progress?

I would like to know the best way to clean this razor from the white buildup around the head? Is there any precaution that needs to be taken with the plastic dial? Thank you.

I find that a good soak in dish soap/ washing up liquid along with a bit of scrubbing with a toothbrush works fine on most razors; I can't advise from experience regarding the dial, though I'd imagine it would be fine.

After you shave take the blade out and spray some scrubbing bubbles from the aerosol can onto the razor.

The gentlest soap you can use with a tooth brush will clean and not damage any parts of your razor. I've used Dawn for years to clean many things, and it hasn't damaged anything yet. I'm apprehensive about scrubbing bubbles, but I know many members use them for cleaning.

+1. Just soak it down a bit on all sides, let it sit a couple minutes, rinse with hot water = shiny
