I think there is a new feature in the Forum upgrade that automatically closes a thread when the butthurt limit is reached.

The OP closed that thread. Originators of Threads can request that a thread be closed if they feel it has gone far off topic.
Feel free to PM him and ask him why he closed it, but I suspect it may have to do with Partisan Politics, and Godwins Law.

We are not going to repeat that mess in another thread.

Interesting. I've never heard of Godwin's Law before.
It's a shame that thread went bad.
I'd never heard of the person who was in trouble before that thread. (I can't remember her name even).
When I looked it up on the internet, I didn't want to learn more anyway. I don't enjoy that kind of stuff (which is why I don't really watch the news anyway).
Cap it off if it goes out of hand.

That was an offensive answer. Hopefully nobody is offended that I just started another one. I am really unhappy about this. You shouldn't let a few people ruin a hot topic for everyone.

Why is that an offensive answer? I simply meant that you had bad timing. You had to have seen that the thread was going the way of the dodo, and it was simply closed before you had a chance to pull the trigger. I guess it's easier to blame me for not sending out 30,000 pm's advising that the thread was about to close rather than the folks who lack the ability to opine on a subject without injecting their political ideology.

I also specifically said that I welcome your response, because I usually expect it to be a good one.

The response is that HLN's handling of this event was incredibly biased and unprofessional. That kind of coverage often incites irrational behavior.
