Honestly I never use the BBB, or 5 O'Clock

Now the Liberty Elsyium has made it into my work bag. I have two inks in there currently, which means that I use them on a weekly basis at work. I have Manhattan Blue and Liberty Elsyium.

The L.E. is a very nice, rich, bright blue ink. I would say it is along the lines of Ottoman Azure by Noodler's. It is a blue blue, rather than a purple blue. I highly recommend it.

Oh, Noodler's. The proxy for my SBAD.

    5OS
    BBB
    Bay State Blue
Bay State Concord (does for purple what BSB does for blue)
    Polar Blue
    Blue Eel
    Bad Belted Kingfisher
    Purple Heart

Now I confess to liking other ink brands more, de Atramentis and Iroshizuku in particular, but no one scratches ink color itches like Noodler's.

What can you tell me about the De Atramentis. I know they are hand made, but what is it that you like about them?

One of the things I've discovered in the past half a year or so is that there are good inks other than Noodlers, nice colors, adequate water resistance, good prices. I've got plenty of ink around anyway, so I'm not tempted every time Noodler's comes out with another shade of blue, or a color that I'd never thought of using in a pen at all.

Still, probably over half of what I have on hand for inks is Noodler's, and it includes some favorites. Their plain old bulletproof black is good. Bad Blue Heron is a reliable standby that I'll use in any pen. Bad Green Gator and Green Marine are about tied for favorite green, to the point where I'm not looking for any others. I like the looks of Kung Te-Cheng, but have had problems with it clogging certain pens. Nathan may just have been sarcastic when he suggested using it only with the included Platinum Preppy, and other people swear that they have had no clogging problems with it at all, but I have to go with my own experience. Still looking for the ideal pen to use it with. If worse comes to worst, the Preppy is not a bad pen.

I have a dedicated pen for my Baystate Blue. In fact I just has the BSB in rotation and cleaned out my Esterbrook. The BSB can surely stain almost everything.

Its funny, I remember my bottle was a very vibrant blue. Blue and not the violet blue that is currently out there. After this weekend of use, which has been about 3 months since its last use, it appears a shade more violet. I absolutely do love how vibrant this blue is though. Sink is stained, I will have to break out the bleach to clean it up.

Yeah, it is not a quiet color. I use it a lot at work because is drives one of my (about to retire) coworkers crazy. He once shot out an email complaining about certain colors being used on paperwork. He did not name names, but I knew he was complaining about me. So, of course, I used BSB for two weeks straight. Never heard my boss complain, though.

He then asked me how many FPs I had, and how I started writing with them. I told him about this great shaving website that has all kinds of subforums filled with people that are knowledgable on a huge range of subjects. When I mentioned the Haberdashery, he asked my to send him a link. So, we may have another one soon (and yes, he was digging on my FP).

I've got a cat named Beefeater and a dog named Beefeater, and two goldfish called Beefeater and Beefeater. There's Beefeater my hamster and Beefeater my horse, and my piglet, known as Beefeater of course.

I know it's boring (Compared to some of the Spectral colours being discussed here...)

But it's got to be one of my favourite black inks.

I have "Benjamin Franklin" and it is a very neutral blue-black, meaning that it is not blue, not black and is straight down the middle. It dries quickly on paper, doesn't feather very much on lower quality stuff and writes very smoothly. I had it in a Lamy Al-Star with 1.1 mm italic nib, and my penmanship never looked so good. It was not remotely quirky.

I have a fatal weakness for Noodlers ink, particularly the blues:

    Off the top:

    Eel Blue,
    Ottoman Azure,
    The much Dreaded Baystate Blue
    Midnight Blue
    Blue Black
    Aircorps Blue Black
    Polar blue
    Navy

and my new favourite the Art Brown exclusive: Manhattan Blue.

There are alot of good inks out there from many vendors. I just happen to have more bottles of Noodlers on my desk right now than any other.

I just dropped my pen but caught it before it hit the floor . However, the nib did manage to slightly puncture my finger and now I have Noodler's Black running through my veins
